27 and mild wind. The load of Ash and Elm did well overnight. 8PM through 6:15. Just added some Spruce and Pine to the Wood Gun. Will be home off and on the next few days so can attend to it when needed.
It was around 30 when I got up a couple hours ago, it’s 34 now heading to 40 for a high. Burning a full load of 1.5 year dried red maple this morning.
I had 32 this AM. Barely enough coals to relight. Did get it going again with a couple small rounds of maple, then loaded up w/ oak. Frigid winds this morning.
Well, I had surprise this morning. 1 degree here! The lake was so angry yesterday with white caps and all, but this morning has no open water showing-go figure!
12 F here this morning, going up into the 30's later. My pile is mixed, on purpose. Mostly using the maple and mulberry now, starting in the late afternoon. I don't get a full overnight burn, since I don't pack the stove for that. LP furnace comes on in very early morning, and running now.
Disappeared for a few days, all the hunting, bucking and splitting got in the way of computer time! A cold snap rolled in, so we're sitting at -22 C/-8 F at the moment. Poplar n pine same as always, although after today that load of poplar is spent. Pine and slabs to carry us through the winter.
-17c/1f this morning with lots of wind over night. Weve had lots of dry snow with this last storm but it looks like the snow will ease for a few days so thats good. This mornings coaling from last nights fire went out while I was digging the wife out so she could get to work. Ive remade it with the usual larch/fir mix.
Thermometer says 29 but man the winds are howling. 12 miles away, and a few thousand feet up, the top of Mount Washington is getting gusts up to 118mph. We're getting some of those remnants at the house and the wind is definitely intense. Stuff is blowing down all over the place. Going to be a long night. Currently burning a mix of beech, ash, and standing dead red oak (all CSS back in 2020).
About 26 here and that should be the low according to the guesses. Just loaded a few Maple splits and some Ash for the overnight.
12/85 Snowed 4 inches since I sit down in my chair. Stove loaded up with Doug fir and fir bark. Roads are a slick mess
