35/69. Last nights reload of chestnut oak at about 11p looks like this at 7a. Will reload with some uglies. Calling for a rain/snow mix tomorrow morning.
14 this morning as I dragged the trach can up the driveway. Most of the sky was clear so I needed no lights. Late morning to early afternoon snow coming today. Haven't had to plow yet as the ground is not yet frozen.
Gonna be a chilly week here in SE TN. Highs in the mid 40's lows in the mid 20's. Should have the stove going most of the week!! Cherry and maple.
Was 30* this AM only going to 43* Loaded up with oak before I went hunting. Felt great coming into the warmth.
Woke up this morning to 33 and ran a load of white birch through the stove. Came home a little while ago to 41, fire was out so I cleaned out the ashes and got it going again with more birch.
I did not expect the overnight temp we got as was originally predicted in low 20's but at 3:30 it was 32. Maybe not too cold for deer hunting today.
Hanging right around the freezing mark with just enough snow to cover the ground.... Most of the concrete was warm enough to melt it...
low of 29, high may hit 42, not that bad of weather here in the PNW, sure beats the super dry weather this past summer!! I planted some grass seed the other day, crane fly's just about ruined the yard. But, grass is coming back, be mowing the yard before too long. The pass is up to 28 at this time, and 19 at the higher elevations. Burning some left over oak a buddy of mine gave me a couple of wks ago. Its pretty well cured out, been down for about 2 yrs. Been splitting some of the bigger stuff on the splitter. Funny, was going to change the motor out, last year, but, the original motor keeps on running, so, i'll use the old mower i bought for a spare motor for cleaning up my ivy trimmings and leaf pickup around the yard. Can't complain about the price 30 bucks for a 6.5 hp craftsman mower!
First full load overnight fire of the season last night. By full load, I mean all full-sized splits and no chunkies. Perfect ash doing the business. Overnight low something like 28F. House maintained at 70F to 72F.
Last night was the first night of stove-tetris here too. No needed to get up before sunrise to reload, wasn't that cold. Our regular menu of 16" oak and oak shorties is now in swing. No more SS wood ready, and its cold enough to run a constant fire now. Did some misc yard tidying before whatever weather hits, ran and fueled the snow blower (usual weekly routine), added some cordwood to top cover the latest stack, moved pallets and other wood to tidy the yard. Hoping for the big one, ready for the small one. First snow of the year is reason to celebrate. Feeling the giddiness building. Sca
