Another frosty night in the south. I’m burning some beauty 20” red oak splits with one cherry. This cold snap has been good for jumpstarting wood sales.
Looks like we bottomed out here at 36°F. I opted to load the stove full of elm skinnies this morning. Based on the extended forecast, I'll probably have one more fire tomorrow morning, then the stove will sit idle for at least a week.
I have 28 on my outside mercury. 66 in, no fire last night. I’ll light back up when I get home from work. First day back to work after vaca.
44 out now and looks like a nice weekend coming. We're going to be heading to Kansas City in a few hours for a long weekend.
36/ 72. Some oak and ash mixed in with SS wood last few fires. Have had coals left over easy start ups. Slight warm up this weekend.
I have 2 of the same indoor/outdoor temp sensors here at the house. One is on the main level with the outdoor sensor within 15-20 feet straight line. The 2nd is in basement and outdoor sensor is straight line 30-35 feet away. Never had any problems. But....their "sensing paths" (?) do not cross each other. It's a good question. I'm glad I didn't think of it before I bought the 2md unit as I probably would have spent too much time trying to find out the answer!
Morning guys. Sitting around 4 C/40? F here in my part of the world this morning. Some really scrubby poplar and spruce cut offs keeping the shack warm.
Got up to 75 today. I got a fire going this morning and then let it go out. Supposed to be warm again tomorrow but I may have a quick fire when I get up.
Sassafras up tonight. For a “lesser quality” wood, it seems to last a decent amount of time. High 40s now, dropping to the low 40s by morning.
Sitting at freezing is all, but we are suppose to get 15 inches of snow in the next day and a half. Got the stove loaded with fir and it is 95 in the living room. Loving it after hunting in the wet cold .
Tomorrow night will be the first fire of the season for us. 60% chance of rain then to snow. 59 for a high, then down to 27. Sunday high of 49 and low of 25. I'll be burning Lodge pole and Almond.
We are already at 63 this morning.... we hit 87 yesterday... Gonna be windy and warm the next two days before the next drop off....
Its 35F here this morning. I ran the stove full of white oak slab wood yesterday afternoon, then overnight. Got it too warm in the bedroom because my wife had the heat on upstairs while I was on a business trip.
We've been burning off and on (mostly on) for a couple weeks. Nice few days coming, I let the wood furnace slow down yesterday and the house is still sticking around 70 degrees. Might sneak by a few days without touching my precious wood pile lol.
Weather not bad here this morning, a few degrees above freezing but should make it to 7-8C or mid 40's later. With a chance of sleet/rain/snow. Poplar n pine idling along in the stove.
Good morning all. 0c/32f here right now with a few lazy flakes falling from the sky and a skiff of the wet stuff on the ground. Larch and fir in the stove from last night has left some coals for me so I will keep it going with a few small splits soon. Heres my view from the living room window from a few minutes ago. The larch are still in full colour with a few of them still holding lime green needles.
