Yes and some places feel like winter. Shingleton and Rapid River, Mi recorded 23 degrees! We did not lose the clouds until after the sun came up so we did not get very low. 48 here.
Gonna run a brush down the chimneys this weekend, and it won’t be long if we keep having overnight temps like we have
Low 50s this morning, and for the last several. Ask my wife if she ran any heat. She sheepishly said yes, but only one degree's worth of furnace. So, we're getting real close to the first shoulder chunklie fire of the season. We were hoping to hold out to at least mid-October before lighting up, but we will do what we need to do... we have plenty of chunklies!
We have a freeze warning on, we have a shoulder season fire going and in about ten minutes I'll add a few more splits and shut the fan off when I finally call it a night.
40 in Northeast Pennsylvania this morning. I loaded the woodstove with some of the last of my elm I had in the bin since last year. Had a couple fires already this year. I have a mixture of ash. maple, black birch and cherry now tossed in the bin which hopefully should last at least until end of October.
Currently 46*/65*, calling for sun then clouds rolling in, low 60s as a high. No fire. Maybe this evening have one to take chill off.
Wow. Warmer over there. 35 this morning but now through next Wednesday is predicted for highs in mid or upper 60's.
47 this morning, Getting into bed last night my wife said "it's almost time to start a fire". Won't be long.
We had 34 degrees on the wireless that is located on the porch with a bit of frost on the roof this morning. We had a pine fire while having coffee this morning.
I’m having my first fire because it’s raining windy and we’ll probably lose power during the night. Thanks Ian! Burning Ash, Northern Red Oak and petrified White Oak.
Accu is calling for a low of 39 tonight and Saturday night, Sunday they're calling for a low of 28 with more shoulder season wood going in the Liberty. Chud , how much rain are they calling for in your area?
Had the break in fire earlier this week. Got down to 39 this morning. Haven't turned the furnace on yet. It was about 66 in the house when I got home from work so I started a small fire and now the house is 70 (going down to 45 tonight). Burning odd shaped chunks of ash, sugar maple and cherry. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Yesterday and today have been unseasonably warm. Yesterday it got up to 64°F and today it was in the high 50s. Tho it was 41 this morning and I started a fire in the stove. It got too warm once it drove the chill out. Just old junky lumber scraps and willow roots
I don’t think we got over 2”. There were forecasts for 4-6”. I’ll be headed out shortly to start the cleanup. Thankfully the center of the system stayed east of us.
