45/67 Stove set for whomever will be home for the day. Nothing will freeze if everyone bails out for the day. Laid up with pine, tulip, hemlock.
Ah, well that rather depends on which Woolston; Woolston in Shropshire is only 10 miles from us, Woolston in Cheshire is a bit further at 65 miles and then there’s Woolston in Southampton which is 200 miles south. People say we live “too far” because it’s a 20 minute drive to the nearest town!
We had 39.5 this morning with a shoulder season fire started once I grabbed my first cup of coffee, the wife started another fire while I was outside felling some dead junk azz pine for the outside fireplace. Our high so far today was a touch over 47 with a frost advisory on for our area tonight.
Just propane presently. Need to get the stoves online, maybe next week. Interestingly, the new Bryant plus 95 has the same btu output as my corn stove, 80K.
Time to toughen up. Several months of high temperatures have thinned out my blood and left me unprepared for the 45 degrees I woke up to at 4:00am Not burning anything yet (oil furnace is still off) but I’ll be cleaning my flue tomorrow in preparation for it.
It is in the 40s here, but decided to just burn a little propane in the furnace to take the edge off in the house. Waiting for lows in the 20s and low 30s to for the wood stove.
45* when I woke up. House wasnt really cold, but I had our first fire. Not so much for the temps. but to be sure all systems are a go.
74 inside, 55 out. Not quite cool enough in to have a fire. But, the stove is stacked with tulip. That burns pretty well. There will be a warm wood stove tomorrow morning if not tonight.
We had 32.7 this morning on the wireless on the porch with a frost (not a heavy frost) on the roof, we hit 60 back here today. We did have a shoulder season wood fire this morning and touched one off earlier tonight.
Lit the boiler up Thursday. Low yesterday morning of 37F. Sunny and beautiful! Boiler's just puttering along on rejects and splitter scraps. My time of year has finally arrived!
We have ignition I woke up to 47, the house being 64. Tried baking some cornbread to warm up the house, but decided to just have a fire. Eastern red cedar to kick off the season.
99 had some company over on Sat. House was cool so I built a fire in the morning to have it warm for the "old hens". Started out at 65 and by the time they left in was 75. No complaints; they had a great visit. Today is another overcast day with more wind and rain. It has already reached it's forecasted high of 50 overnight and is sitting at 48 now. 66 inside with no chance of solar gain once again today so I'm thinking there'll be another fire built sometime today as tonight's lows will be in the 30's.
