Well the SOB's have been off by about 8-10 degrees for the forecast high the last month or so. Looks like it's gonna continue. Forecast high today was 84. Currently 90 and climbing.

It has been a cool damp day so we're having a shoulder season wood fire, 78 in the basement where the stove is and 72 up here.

After tomorrow the temps will be warmer for the week, we usually start feeding the Lopi Liberty on September 15 and the latest has been the 25 of September. Since oil and propane prices are up, we won't use any of those until the coldest weather hits.

I think that I'll cover another two face cord of shoulder season wood, that will give us just under eight face cord for this fall and next spring if needed.

How much SS wood will you go through?
I have 3/4 of a cord, but I kinda recall that SS here is pretty short. Although we'll burn everything just to empty that rack.

We usually burn six face cord of white pine, some in the fall and what's left in the spring. Last year I never had much up (only five face) but this year we have 12 face cord up, the more we burn the cleaner the lot gets.

Between the clearing for the garage in 2018, mother nature and the bugs keep putting white pine down or just killing them, I can't burn enough.

After baking here for two months 65ºF almost seems cold. Even with half the windows open the house is still 71ºF inside . Won't take too many days for the wood and insulation to cool off.

Our first burn for 2022 Fall season was today.
The family loaded the F500 with pine this morning.
Its been 63° or less, so the stove took the chill off, and drove the moisture out, and will keep the temps up for the evening.

We're looking for 80's end of week, so not bringing the wood box in, or stocking anything inside yet. I reckon we'll carry an armload of SS wood in as needed for the next week or two.

But, the heating season has indeed begun, not in earnest, but begun.

Currently 67 @ 8:45. Thick cloud cover for 2 days has really cooled things off. I love it! Lows still 60's though.

We've had a few light frosts. Was forecast for high winds but they never showed up. Which is fine by me. Was down in the low 40s this morning and damp. So I built a fire as it was about 50 in the house. Kipt a small fkw+bs fire going all day. Now it's up to 52°F, 12°C outside. So I have 2 doors open to cool it off in here before bed. Filled the woodbox and staged the remainder of the fkw+bs by the hatch to the woodbox.
Gotta stop delivering wood to customers and get my own in.

    39 f degrees. Warming up to a high of 45 f.

Cool and rainy. Very fall-like. I live it.

Got a little warmer than forecast here today.

I doubt that was the highest temp of the day either.
Of course I took the A/C window units out a couple days ago. Luckily the feels like was only 96ºF and not 115ºF

Well, the season is upon us!

38 degrees outside with a slushy rain/snow mix falling. It’s been cold and drizzly all day.

    College football on tv.

Just lit my first wood fire of the season. I’m burning shoulder season crap. But it feels good!
