Last week was hot and the humidity was unbearable. It's hot this week but much less humid....heat index is lower than the actual temperature.

Still firing up the OWB daily to make a batch of hot water, then shutting it down for the night.

Dang, I had thought about that last night then forgot this morning...

It is getting hot and very stuffy out there. Just turned the air conditioner on.

Nice morning of relief. 59 right now. Won't need the AC today! :D

Heading for the low 70's is all. :handshake:

A cool 63 @ 9a here in Baltimore MD. Heavy cloud cover and drizzle is keeping the temps down. I'm not complaining!

I think our high yesterday was 105°. It was 101° at 7PM on my way home last night.
Forecast for 101° today, but the humidity is low, makes it a little better.

I hear the rumbling going on east of us, we've had some rain but nothing hard. Sunday we could hit 90 and then back in mid 70's after that.

Moving south, currently traveling between RI and VA pretty often. Overall, burning lots 'o electricity to keep the heat at bay. Oddly enough, hot in both places but the house in VA has central air so no effort required to keep it comfortable. Not sure what winter will be like here and coupled with the heat pumps and propane furnace, I really do not know what to expect when it gets cold other than the usual high heating costs of both fuels.

I have my trusty Woodstock Ideal Steel with me but there is nary a flue anywhere in the house. Also there is no place here that seems like a great location for a woodstove. Will keep an eye on firewood prices and decide later where or even if to install the stove.

66 here now. Maybe we'll be getting some rain this afternoon as storms are predicted to move in. Heading for the high 80's again.

Currently 64 going to low 80s. Sat and sun heat up to low 90s, then temps drop back down until next weekend. Can't really complain. Beats 100*

I am in the Shenandoah Valley, one side of which is the Blue Ridge mountains. Elevation here is around 1,500 ft. Really nice area, and the grandkids are close so this location works for us at the moment.

It gets cold enough here to make burning wood worthwhile but as I said, there are no provisions at all for wood burning in this house. The living room is a 'great room', two floors high and may lend itself to a straight- up black metal smoke pipe that fits into a Class A stainless chimney through the ceiling and then through the roof. It could be a clean installation but the stove will end up next to the TV and the living room floor is hardwood so those are both considerations for the woodstove. Also, in a neighborhood with an HOA and rules- I think I can stock firewood but it will have to be neat and clean. Still, I have been burning wood for heat since I was short and am not quite willing to give it up without a bit of a struggle so I think I will forge ahead and go for the stove install as well as stockpiling firewood. Besides, who can resist a well- built holz hausen anyway? :)

All the way back to the point of this thread: A/C is running on both floors so not burning anything other than on the smoker outside. :) Wood burning season will be shorter here although it does get well below freezing, snows (last year two big dumps, one over a foot) and is worth burning wood IMO. Also, this house is a lot bigger than the last one so the stove may have to pass moderate burning to heat the place. Still have my thermocouples and temp. recording devices with me data may be forthcoming...... <chuckle>
