We had 32 when I made the coffee this morning, still burning Cherry in the Liberty. I'm looking for a dead pine I can cut down so I can split an burn it in the outside fireplace. I'm thinking on the north side of the house we lost enough snow that I can get in there with the rhino.
Are we done yet ??? Wet and damp tonight, gotta keep the burner lit for tonight. Supposed to be 50* tomorrow..
Right around freezing right now. Light rain/almost snow. Everything is still dripping though! Lots of snow gone. Ash and Pine burning in the boiler.
It's around 33 with some rain which should turn to snow overnight, not much burning at the moment but we'll lad the liberty up with cherry for the overnight burn.
Low is supposed to be around 30 tonight and the wind is blowing pretty good. Just loaded the stove with some smallish ash and oak splits.
Tomorrow might be a decent day to cut some wood buddy! I am looking to drop a few good size Pine for logs for my Amish customer. He closed on his land and wants some more logs. Especially some more of those nice straight 24 footers I cut him. He is making 6x6s out of them for a barn he is going to build. But while doing that I think I am going to take down a few dead Pine as well and use them for shoulder season firewood this spring. That is eventually coming. Right? What is the first official day of spring anyway? June 21st around here?
It will take me several more weeks to cut him some more logs. I hate to say it, but the weather that is probably coming should be good for cutting logs and firewood. Cold. Have a read of this. Nothing like living in the North Country. http://www.weather.com/forecast/national/news/colder-weather-pattern-change-spring-equinox-2015
Go get them! I still can't get back in with the rhino to the spots I'll be cutting, no dropping any trees for me until I take care of what's down. We have plenty of firewood in our inventory so I won't rush it, tomorrow I'll take the splitter down to my neighbors, gotta split that unseasoned wood even smaller. I dropped a small sugar maple this afternoon for deer food (it was a smaller weak tree with a split trunk) the deer were on it in 10 minutes, I'll drop a few more tomorrow.
26º on the back porch this morning. Ash and Pine in the boiler. We got some more snow. Looks like maybe an inch or so.
We'll be getting colder by tomorrow night with temps dropping again. Been loading the stove before bed the past week. Next week should be a morning and night fire again.
We are still doing the morning/night thing. Got another 3" of snow last night. A few days ago everything was gone except the piles and now it looks like the middle of winter again.......I have had enough.
It was 30 degrees this morning when I made the java, it looks like we'll have two nights of single digit temps this week.
I'm not sure about you, but the radio was just saying parts of Vermont could get 5-7" throughout the day today.
29 at 7am Still 70 in here now. Haven't reloaded yet. Goin out to sweep chimney soon. Draft has been negligible last 2 nites. Cooler this week so I better get it done . Chili in the crock. Should finish up the frame work on the GF's office today and be ready for spray foam insulation and wiring. Our busy season starts in a few weeks and its go time for 9 months. I'm getting too old for this chit!
Rotti, I find it extraordinary that we have more snow than you! We still have one to two feet in the woods. Edge of the road and piles still 3-5 feet high. Supposed to get chilly again, and some snow this week. Messy weather. The lake is solid white. The ice got quite thick this winter. I'm sure the ;lake will keep us cool for quite a while. But the sun surely feels nice at this time of year, on those lucky sunny days.
It was a nice day for working outside today. Now it is 30º and the boiler finally kicked on again. Not as much demand for heat. I'm going to have to go put some Ash in.
