Woke to 27/74. Threw 2 pieces of each red oak and mulberry in the England's. Supposed to approach 50 today and 60 the next 2. Already lined up wood to cut this weekend.
50 outside already...supposed to get to 58 overnight then fall like a rock to 15 by tomorrow night. Already windy but that's supposed to pick up some more. Boiler isn't going to be doing much today...not even going to look at it until this afternoon to make sure we have hot water for showers tonight.
Present temp is 46. I just came in from trying to break up some ice. Not much success as that stuff is rock hard. Went to a few neighbors and found the same thing. One widow needed lots of sand. I've been worrying about her with all the ice so I spread enough so she could get to and from her car. I also spread more sand for another neighbor as it was terrible and not flat ground so I made it so they can better get in and out of their house to their cars. Didn't even get a thank you... But that is normal for that family. Naturally, I came inside and now the sun is finally out. That should help a lot. I'll get the tractor out again this afternoon.
It's 60 out now, and no fire. Cleaned the stove and have it prepped for tonight. We're under a Winter Storm Warning for tonight, 1/3" sleet, then ice, then 5-7 " snow, and it's supposed to be -8 in the morning. I know it's winter time, but just because I live in the show me state, doesn't mean we actually need to see it..
It hit 51° today. Rain and southern wind. It's 43° out now. I loaded a couple small splits in this am. But nothing until I just reloaded the stove with elm and ash. 72° inside. A big snowstorm is to hit south of here. Basically nothing to happen here. Forecasters say it will go right into spring this year. We've barely had any snow. Maybe one of the Lowest snow totals ever. Most of it has gone south and hit Chicago.
Just woke up from a nap... .. 41F outside... 68F inside... Loaded up the stove for the evening... First fire in 24 hours....
41 here with steady rain. Maple still burning from last night. Going to about 50 this afternoon. Rain most of the day along with these temperatures should get rid of a bunch of snow. Just in time to get more when the temps drop tonight. Nothing like our North Country winters.
47 this morning, rising another 10 or so degrees later today. Got to love the month of Apriluary The furnace can deal with these temperatures. Later today I'll clean out the ashes and distribute them in the backyard.
51/73. Hitting 60 today with strong wind gusts and rain. Probably have some of my older tarps rip. A load of ash and black cherry for this morning.
45 out and the stove is burning SS wood, gonna go up to 58 and rain. Will let the stove go out in a little while, hopefully some the glacial ice in the driveway will melt.
-7 out this morning with a wind, she's a bit brisk on the face this morning. OWB loaded with burr oak.
