Went down to -11 last night and only a high of 7 today, but not bad when the sun is out. OWB is filled with Burr oak, red oak and a few splits of ash.
All the rain and melting snow has now froze and there's a lot of ice out there. Have to be careful walking through the yard. 24 with a NW that makes it feel a lot colder. Low of 11 tonight. Boiler is topped off with some hickory...should be good for 24 hours.
Traction devices on your feet. My life changed dramatically from just 1 bad fall on about a 2' square of fresh hard ice.
-25/70. Think I'll forego the morning walk today! Feeling like -40 out there now. As I went to bed last night, the light from the moon meant it was a clear sky and temps would fall drastically. Yup, they sure did.
20/70 got a load of maple and ash going. 25 for a high today with some light snow then down to singles tonight
26 and snowing hard when I got up, which was a shock to the system after being sunny and almost 60 yesterday. Back to burning again with mostly red maple and a little beech in the stove.
27º at the moment with close to 3 inches of snow on the ground. Temps around 32º today going down to 13º overnight. A couple of days of winter then a warm up into the 50s.
My driveway is solid ice. That thaw seemed nice but it continued into the night and then the temperature dropped fast. So we have less snow but lots of ice. Thankfully we have lots of sand here.
Currently 12 here with light snow, very still and beautiful outside. I got up at 17:30 to build up the fire and make coffee. Just sort of lazing around the house. Fire is great now burning red oak and beech. Historically I don't get a lot of beech but I have a bunch now that was cut and split 3 years ago and it is fantastic.
