43 and raining on top of melting snow. Good thing it is going below freezing for a few day or else mud levels would reach critical. Boiler once again has too many coals this morning and will need an evening reload.
Warmed up to 8 below when I got up at 8 . On the wife's weekend. She was clangin an bangin around . She gets up at 5:30 on her days off so by 8 she is all coffeed up and getting cranky about me getting a good night's sleep. Ah well. Fkws in the stove
It sure is Backwoods Savage but after the cold January we had, we'll take everyone mother nature gives us. We had 26.4 this morning with another load of Ash going in the Lopi. It was still 69 up here before the first fire I started later this morning. Late next week we could be in for a bunch of rain, today Accu has us getting 0.71 inches of rain but hopefully that number goes down. Is that system hitting your area. I've done enough work with the tractor (some with a shovel) that everything should drain away from the house and newer garage.
41 here at 2:15 this afternoon. Rain showers just starting. I just put a few large Maple splits in the Wood Gun because that is what was there. It’s time for a needed break. Then I’ll bring some firewood in before dark.
55F here, burning #2 fuel oil. Going down into the 'teens on Sunday and will be back to burning wood again.
It tightening up here heading into the dawn. We are now sitting at -8f. I was -5f and breezy a few hours ago. If it stays calm, we will lose a few more degrees over the next hour or two. We are holding at 68f inside at the coaling stage of our last load of sugar maple. Will be adding a load of birch prior to heading out to the lake for some angling/spearing.
A bit nippy at 4f this morning looking for a high of 29 for the day. Need to drag more wood up from the backyard.
6° out now, but feels like -10° according to local weather. It's going to get up to 15° here today. Ash, elm and some apple sticks in the stove. I can't stand to see apple and hickory or any high BTU wood tossed, so I process it down to like 1-2" sticks. They help fill in the top of the stove as well. I need to bring a cart of uglies for campfire wood for going to our friends for the Superbowl. It's going to be about the same tomorrow so a nice fire outside will be welcome. I always try to bring over a decent amount of wood for them. They do like to have fires outside and I just hate seeing them buy a few unseasoned sticks of wood for whatever it costs them at the store. We bring drinks and firewood when we go there. That's always a nice gift for hosting whatever kind of party. We usually bring food too, but this time they said just drinks and ourselves. Me bringing firewood is something they appreciate.
Already down to 20 degrees and snowing. Dropped 17 degrees in four hours! I’m going to burn up some White Pine all day long. Then switch over to some good hardwood for the overnight low of -5.
