a balmy 5 degrees here this morning Stove up and running with some oak and elm. Headed out to the shop to get the furnace fired up so I have a warm place to hide later. I need to move some wood around outside while ground is frozen and a snow/rain mix headed our way overnight.
14 degrees here a mix of dead standing honey locust and seasoned oak in the insert. Mostly honey locust in the central boiler as well.
Well, surprise the weather bunny was wrong. Only got down to a balmy -6*, the Harman went through about 15lbs of pellets but the upstairs was a nice and toasty 73*. Sit back and drink some coffee while I wait for it to go up a bit before my outside chores.
This is about as cold as it gets around my part of PA. Old 7.3 made some angry noises when I cranked it to life this morning. Oak and mulberry in the stove, house around 70.
12/70 just loaded a mix of elm, maple and sycamore. Snow moving in this evening. 5-9" & another 2-4" in the morning. Have to have the pooch to the vet for another blood test in the morning but we're pretty sure he has pancreatitis. He will have to be on a low fat diet if so. At least we are getting answers and he started on a script to help his gut.
-2 on the thermometer at the house. 58 on the thermostat when I woke up. Stove bed full of coals and took everyone's advice and threw some pine splits in then Cherry and what I'm pretty sure was Oak. 10 min later and the living room already feels warmer. This is my favorite time of the year.
6* when I woke up at 6:45. Only coals active in stove, blower was off. Started to get fire going and oil furnace kicked on at 62* . Turned off furnace and got room to 72* in no time. Oak n some cherry
Slept in a little, -22°F calm before the storm. We'll finally get above 0 today with a foot+ expected late tonight. House got down to 59°F i forgot to load the pellet stove before bed. Woodstove getting going now
We are on track for the same snow ad you. Should be great fun in the morning as people lose their minds with just a little snow.
We had 3" the other week and people where losing the minds lol. I left work at 3am that night to clean up a local medical center so they could open. Had a coworker tell me I should let them leave cause I wouldn't have any problems with my big truck. My boss had to tell them me leaving early had nothing to do with road conditions and they walked away pizzing and moaning.
We had a low of - 19.1 @ 11:12 p.m. last night with a temp of - 16.4 this morning. More Yellow Birch and some Ironwood went in the wood stove early this morning.
24f here. 66 inside so I put some red oak in the stove. Now I’m sitting here with windows open so I don’t roast. Mike in Okla
I saw 10° on the weather center this am. Ash in the stove. Mid 70's in the stove room pretty much all the time. There's a lot of ash in my stacks, I run across an elm, box elder, Norway maple, or fir split, and some higher btu stuff like locust, ironwood, or apple. I'll mix in the other wood except the high BTU stuff just to get a little variety. The gooder stuff I set aside for the really cold temps.
Started out at 8f up to 16 now. Think I'll venture out soon and do some running around, maybe stop by TSC and take a look at splitters.
