18 out 70 in Getting dumped on by half dollar size snow flakes. This is highly unusual with the lake froze over. Another 8" to add to the pile. When will it end ??!! Couple pieces of beech to burn up the wad of coal left over from last nites load.
Put a couple more splits of Maple in when I got up at 3 or 4 (don't actually remember what I saw on the clock), and about 17 when I got back up about 7. We're at 15 right now, and the house was 67 when I got up. Back up to 70 now. So much easier to get the house warm when the temp is above +10f. I know it'll change, but the forecast is 24 today (we hit 30 yesterday). 2 days ago, the forecast was for 4-8" of snow starting Tues., then yesterday it went to 6-10, now late last night and this morning it's down to 3-6". With that little bit, I'll just keep driving over it like I've been most of the winter. Nice not having any huge snowbanks anywhere. Anyway, the Maple is doing well, but leaving tons of coals......I don't remember that from the last batch I burned.
So far this snowstorm has been a non-event. A few flurries, but once again not a drop of snow on my steps. 25 F out, windy, wind chill about 5. Cloudy, but still quite bright. About to take a walk with Artan.

Weatherman says 50° tomorrow, and then the highs hover in the 30’s and 40’s for the next 10 days or so. I’m excited for this heat wave! With the temps the way they are now at 20° or less, I only have enough wood for 2 more weeks before I’d have to dip into “next year’s” stack. I think I can stretch this year’s wood out another month if it really stays in the mid 30’s or higher.
Coldest February since 1889. Records before 1900 are suspect, according to the govt. Anyway, cold. Going to look at the temps recorded by Hydro...think they are the temp in Perth
AVERAGE daily temps in Perth, since Dec 29, in C: Dec: -5, -12,-9 Jan:-5,-10,-12,0,-11,-11,-18,-12,-12,-8,-10,-22,-18,-14,-10,NA,-, -7,-17,-17,-13,-5,-3,-10,-18,-13,-12,-9,-11,-19 Feb:-16,-22,-19,-6,-20,-17 ,-11,-15,-14,-12,-13,-15,-22,-12,-19,-22,-19,-15,-16,-19,-13,-8,-18,-15,-16,-19,-19 Those are the averages, not the lows, and no wind factored in. It has been cold. The water supply pipes in Smiths Falls, buried 5 to 6 feet, are freezing.
Down to around 0 F tonight, in the twenties tomorrow with three to six inches on snow, then accuweather and Environment Canada disagree. Govt calls for 37 degrees and rain and snow, accuweather 29 and a small amount of snow. Surely hope we get the 29.
-9 f here this a.m. with 4" of snow predicted for this afternoon and another 4 tonight. Stove in the coal burn down mode before I feed it. Gotta a charter this a.m. then in for the balance of the day.
-5 here with Pine and Ash burning in the boiler. And we are going to get 3-5" between today and tonight. Time to wake up the wife and kids.
24 °F now, High: 35 °F today, rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation around 2 inches. So, I guess 2 inches slush Burnin ash, ash baby
10 when I got up. Didn't look at what I threw in this morning . Don't care. Prolly beech,,,,, that's all that's left,,,,,,,,,, oh yeah ,,,,,, and some coal!!! I'M SICK OF BURNING !!!!!
We had -11 this morning, for the overnight burn in the Liberty we had a full load of ironwood,in the opposite corner we had the Pellet Stove set at 78.
About to turn the corner on spring here. 40's and sunny next week. Pulled out the rest of the yaller trash wood out and will burn it the next couple nights.
Wow, heat wave here this a.m. with +14 f. We got about 3" of snow from yesterday afternoon to this morning. Cleaned out the ash load in the stove and re fired er' with some small splits to get er'ready to load for the day. Looks like she'll be warmer up her next week as well. Hope so, I've had enough winter.
