I'm tired of hearing the trees crack while I'm walking down the road on a windless day. If it isn't killing the EAB, it's sure hurting the trees. Now if we could just teach ticks to eat EAB....then maybe the ticks would be big enough to see and we could kill them before they attach...... I think I need some warmer weather.....
-2ºF with Pine and some mixed blend pellets gasifying. I brought some Pine in yesterday and will bring more in today. Along with some more Ash.
-3 F Elm/Cherry mix in the Summit, calling for 27 F today so letting the small stove go cold for a glass clean and ash vacuuming. Going to go look at some tire chains for the truck today.
-26 at 5:30am brrr rrr,,rrrrr,,,,,,,,rrrrrrrr ! *#!@? 66 in Inside temps aint holding on these beech/coal loads at these outside nite temps. I'ma want me some more oak !!!! If the snow wasn't so dam deep I'd be getting me some. Got 5 face cord of seasoned split left for sale. Should be sold out by sunday. This is the least amount of finished product I've had in the yard in years. Even the heavy mill slab pile is way down. Gonna be a good year for firewood sales .
Nothing at all, we did hit the trails yesterday for a total of 72 miles. We went south to route 3 to the Thirsty Moose.
Warmed up here nicely. It is 20F! The wind is up and down. Pine and some mixed blend pellets burning in the boiler.
We hit about 25 today with nothing but sun. I've taken 3 walks to the field to admire the firewood stacks. Tomorrow should be similar.
Walked a couple of miles with Artan today. Beautiful out. Birds singing. Supposed to be cloudy, maybe snow, the next few days.
We had the same weather here too. We went to Malone so we could take advantage of some sales at IBC. I bought a new jacket and a pair of bibs and pants for riding on the sled. After that we went to Hosler's for lunch, it's across from the Fairgrounds.
How the heck did you get that piled that high? I thought the snow pile in my yard (at the end of the 1/5 mile long driveway) was huge....it's about 12 feet in diameter, but only 5 or 6 feet high. There are many smaller piles along the driveway, basically at all the bends. Terry (who plows my road) doesn't like my road, and when I had him dump a few loads of gravel in the fall he took care of the areas he didn't like. Came home to about 50 saplings cut and a much wider road at all the bends. He's having fun plowing this year....
That's the end of the driveway Sherwood and was pushed up with the tractor. Lots more around the house and when I went to take pics the camera said my card was full. Still trying to figure out how to empty it????? Will get some more pictures tomorrow..Maybe..
I'm about tired of this weather even if it's starting to turn a bit. I just filled up my garage rack with a 1/3 cord mix of red oak and soft maple. After that's gone I only have about a cord left of the wood I planned to burn this year. If I can get back to a full load and a partial load a day or 24 hour burns it will go a long way towards making me feel better. ;lol
