34 and it finally stopped raining here. Yesterday was nice with the snow, then we awoke to ice coming down this morning. I wanted to break up the routine today so I’m burning mostly 2 year old apple wood, and trying not to heat ourselves out of the house in the process.
Snow snow snow. Lots and lots of snow here. Plowed again this morning because we had accumulated 6 " in the last 2 days. And we may have another 6 " by morning. This winter is even more snow that 19/20 at least so far. Cooked a small 14 lb turkey today. Had a good time remembering the reason for the season. Got some nice gifts. Now in a mild after turkey stupor. Cleaned about 3 gal of ashes out of the stove just before I took the bird out of the oven. As our house is small and the oven at 400° makes A Lot of heat, I let the woodstove putter itself just about out. Actually built another fire. Tho there were still some coals . Aspen in the stove . Temp +5 10 to 20 mph breeze. Half way to white out conditions as it's Really snowing.
House was too warm yesterday from burning the Kuuma VF on Christmas Eve. We needed up with windows open and did not have a fire in the fireplace. This morning we are burning a Christmas blend of sassafras, cherry and oak. Getting in the 50’s again today so only a small fire for today.
About 30 here. Oil burning still. Hopefully that part for the valve comes in soon so I can get back to burning wood. But in today’s transportation system I doubt it. We received just enough ice yesterday to make everything nasty slippery. Did the sidewalks yesterday with salt and shovel. Time to break it up on the driveways today.
Sounds like you're a bit ike me....getting antsy with al that snow piling up. I'll keep checking and checking but the reason I do that is to get going with the snow removal! 12/64. LP furnace is keeping it steady at 64.......yeah, the fire is lit once again.
24 overnight, 35 now with some sun. Was just out in a flannel and it's perfect weather for that. Kinda wish we didn't have a service tonight, be a great chainsaw afternoon. Still running on last nights load of shoulder wood.
Currently 27 degrees here and snowing lightly. I’ve got Aspen and Elm burning in the Oslo and Ponderosa going in the Lopi. Getting the gym warmed up with the Lopi. Today is leg day - followed by bicep/tricep supersets.
Good morning. I hope everyone had a great Christmas day! -23c/-9f with doug fir in the box. Pic out back taken yesterday afternoon.
