Currently 39F heading to 7F Monday. Had been burning big leaf maple and Douglas fir. Just finished staging black locust and madrona that I’ll start running soon.

Temp. is 24F here. Just burning down an earlier load in the stove and planning (for the first time this year) to reload it and set it for the overnight burn.

I am pretty happy to have a stove back after a long while without one and I actually forgot how nice spot, radiant heat is in a house!

I’m no plumber either. My HVAC guys did a really nice job with the install. Shut off valves everywhere! Hopefully this part I ordered is the right one. If it is I’m going to order another one so that when this one goes bad I’ll have it in stock. Who knows how long they will be available. This one lasted 11 seasons. It would be a major and costly job to change things now. Not going to happen. You were suppose to tell me that BEFORE the system install! :heidi:

They have burn bans in the Fairbanks ,North Star Borrough. When it gets Cold. Imagine, it's 55°BELOW ZERO ambient. And some u.g.e. wants to fine you for burning wood to stay warm.
That's why I don't live inside the boundaries of a local government entity.
The primary hitch in the gitalong with their regs is they prohibit ALL solid fuel burning appliances. Including pellet stoves !!!
Doesn't matter if it's a barrel stove burning green cottonwood or an ancient coal burner or a new Blaze King Princess burning 4 year shed seasoned Birch.
Just all together too many dregs of society involved in Fairbanks government.

Currently around 5 below. Seasoned dry Aspen in the woodstove.

Have had odd weather here this week. Strange warm ups. And snow snow snow and more snow I've plowed 3 times in 5 days. Averaging more than 2 hours per plowing . IMG_20211223_184614460.jpg

I think I will have to drop the tanks on my 82 K20 Chevy plow truck aka Brownee.
Getting too much water and rusty crap in the water seperator filter. I think the water is coming from condensation because if the return line.
It shut me down for 3 hours today. Plus the truck has dual tanks. I hate dual tanks ! 2 times as many problems as a single tank.
I'm thinking about putting a water seperator filter on the return line. Crawl under and drain it after every plowing.
Also thinking of putting a stack exuast on it.

I wish I had Madrona. I have family in the gulf islands of BC and they burn it there. It has never been convenient for me to grab any considering Im 1200 kms from them. Enjoy!

23 here, with about an inch of snow on the ground with some scattered flurries still drifting down. Last night’s red oak coals made this morning’s relight with black birch fairly easy.

All ready 31 out here, calling for 43.

But! Santa started early and left me a small pile of 24" splits of red oak at work!

Close to 60 here today! Burned a full load of silver maple and oak this morning, still in the 70’s inside. Seeing we’re hosting Christmas Eve and it’s so beautiful out figure I’d move the fire outside this afternoon, hopefully rain hold off. Got about 5/6 good pallet spots but only had to hit the first one and grabbed 5. Guess no one is hoarding pallets on Christmas Eve! merry Christmas everyone.
