Holy Cow.............two mornings above zero, here come the Black Flies. Just cleaned out both stoves to get ready for the next round of "Global Warming". 72 here in the cave, running on a mixed diet of maple and beech. All have a safe warm day.
I have 13º here at 7:30am. We got a little snow yesterday and last night, but it does not look like much. Maybe 2-3 inches. Unfortunately it does not look like we are going to have any temperatures warm enough to melt it away any time soon so I may put the plow on the truck and clean everything up later today. I also need to put some heavy gear oil in the front axle of the Kubota today. It appears to have a slow leak at one of the seals. Just like the last one I had.
We had 20 this morning before coffee, the house is the same old temps except the basement was 75 instead of 80.
http://weather.gc.ca/warnings/report_e.html?on13#1557024311979021281201502220503 Here we go again...............and again.....................and again!!!!!!!!! It's starting to get old.
Upper 20's yesterday, dropped fast overnight.76 in here. At 630AM was 7 degrees, its 12 & partly sunny now. Still 72-74 inside thanks to more of that ugly old dead Red/White Oak.Its going through a fair amount of it though, glad I busted me arse that hot summer in 2011. Supposed to be minus 8 with minus 20 windchill tomorrow morning.High of 20 in afternoon & mid 30's (for just 1 day) on Tuesday. Then back to the artic zone rest of the week. Normal high for here now is 35-40,most days this month we've been lucky to see half of that temperature.
Headed to -6 with a stiff north wind tonight. Just packed the stove with enough hedge to launch the space shuttle. Should be good until noon tomorrow.
Its 2 degrees now, no idea what it will drop to, but I'm burning cherry, elm and a little hickory and poplar. Getting low in the stack, but there plenty dry seasoned wood in the woods, that I'm sure I'll have to retrieve some next weekend.
Still 20 here, going down to -8 they say. Pretty late already though, doubt it will get that cold here.
Yup. Today was a heat wave for us. Felt great. Been cold here too long. Suppose to go back down. Unfortunately.
Headed for another - double digit night, looks like -15 is the forecast. I'm betting the kids will have another day off once the windchill is figured in. Just got the stove load with some oak and ash.
Zero degrees outside, per my IR pyrometer, its about 74 in in the family room. Not bad considering I have just an inefficient fireplace with a blower. The best part is the furnace hasn't turned on more than once, and that was ok as it moved the air around. I suppose I could've just turned the fan on and no furnace, I just don't want to wake up to a cold house.
-5º here right now. I was wrong. It went from 20º late last night to -5º pretty quick. So it did get that cold, AGAIN. Cabin might be starting. Ash over night, then switched to some Pine this morning. It will be nice when we get to the days that stay above 20º.
At 4 p.m. yesterday it was 23 f here. Right now, it is -13 f. That SUCKS............I think I'm getting really sick of this. Cave is sitting @ 71 and I'm just loading up the stoves for some heat production. Everyone try to stay warm.
-5 out 63 in. Brrrrr Don't know what happened but its never that cool in the house in the morning.Almost out . Half dozen coals for a quick kindling restart. I swept the chimney Saturday. Maybe it had such a good draft it sucked a couple splits up the stack!!!
Checked the forecast before loading the stoves last night. They said it would be around 10F by morning so I decided to put some good wood in. Woke up this morning to complaints that it was too hot in the house. The weather men were wrong (surprised?) and it was still around 30F outside. The house was 75F upstairs an 80F downstairs. What a waste of oak. KaptJaq
We are supposed to hit a high of 0F with wind chill -10 for a few minutes at 1PM then right back down again to -35 wind chills overnight. Once again, extreme cold warnings until tomorrow morning. We hit the high for the rest of February at noon on the 28th: 20 F. A few more cold nights in store for us this week. Burning sugar maple. It has kept me nice and warm this winter.
