Mid 40s when I got up, projected high today of 65. Suffice to say, my stove's remaining idle. Plenty of solar gain to keep the house warm. Rain storms blowing through tonight followed by another slight cool down. Probably have a fire again tomorrow morning since it'll be hovering around 40. It's that kindling-consuming time of year.
Upper 20's right now. Yesterday and all night we had a bitterly cold wind. The kind where as soon as you step outside, you think you should have worn a heavier jacket!
29 right now, only calling for 32 today and into the teens tonight,. Wind is strong still. Basswood and maple in the OWB
We had it yesterday but didn't quite make it to 60. If that rain would have stopped though... Temp been steady at 38 for a while now.
Had steady mid50’s past few days and nights. Helped get rid of some poor poplar. Solid ran last night, so temps are dropping. Woodshed has a bit over a rick left. I suspect this weekend I will be breaking down a holsen haus and filling the shed to the brim, to set in for December
29 right now, still a strong bitter wind, heading into the mid teens tonight, got some basswood and a few splits of cherry in the OWB right now, got a load of maple and oak sitting in the wheelbarrow by it I will toss in at the end of chores tonight.
I need to be up there during the winter solstice. To look over the horizon where there is no discernible difference between Heaven and earth, and take it all in. I know what you mean when you say you were born a displaced Alaskan
Sean if what I read is correct, it sounds like rail & shipping is also down in parts of B.C. & will be for a while. Dangerous & frightening situation going into winter. God bless & will pray for you all! 32F here & very windy. Little Oak & Ash in the boiler.
Same as Eric.....had a good fire this morning, melted wax for more firestarters, made a new pot of bone broth, and heated dish water before letting it go out. We cooked dinner onnthe gasser though (shudder). Left the wood burner off for the night. But, Dear Wife and i moved about half a cord up to the house, sorting some stuff that didnt dry too well (holes in the tarp) from the good stuff. We're in day 10 of "the plague" and needed to get out and work a little. We're both whipped, but feel good. Gigatt, Sca
Thanks. The trains arent able to get anywhere near the ports in Vancouver. I see them sitting on the tracks all loaded up out here with nowhere to go. I would think the trucks will be diverted through the states but Im not sure how that works. Its -3c/26f and dry here. Larch keeping the house toasty.
Yesterday was fairly warm. I let the stove go out yesterday am. I started it back up in the afternoon though. Today it flurried all day and didn't get warmer than 38°. We had the stove going all day today. Balsam fir and box elder during the day, and I just loaded ash and fir in the stove. Low down to 24° tonight, supposedly.
