Yesterday turned into a nice mild day. No fire...regretfully letting the LP burn.

30/70 had some good coals this morning so I threw some silver maple and red oak uglies on. Supposed to be warm this weekend so no fires for a while.

I really do need to get the hole in the ceiling where the chimney goes through closed up. Loose a lot of heat up there and it makes the roof of the house look funny with a melted spot. It doesn't help that we've had days this past week that got up into the mid 30s.

This really is un normal weather for us. Last year we already had 35 below by now.
I'm glad it hasn't been cold yet. But,

With the thermostat at 70, the furnace only turned on twice last night despite having no fire in the stove. Totally fine with that.

It was 25* or so with a hard frost when I got up at 5:30. Got some ash and a split of BL going before I went out hunting. Sure was nice coming into a warm fire later

Had a mix of cherry and box elder and tree of heaven for the rest of the day.

But it warmed up real nice today and tomorrow is supposed to be the same. Looks like I'll be letting the fire go out during the day.

39 here now, and some oak coals burning down very slowly.

Pretty mild here as well, found some Pine chunks I forgot about, so I'll use those up. Sunshine sure is nice!

Looks like spring will happen today and tomorrow. Seems like this same thing happened last year.

A mix of white pine, tulip poplar, Aspen and black birch holding back the 28 degree chill outside. Happy Sunday morning. :)

Spent most of today in the high teens to low 20s . Mostly very well shed seasoned black spruce in the stove. But I did throw in a round of Aspen.
Had a major sore throat this morning and my wife did also. So we stayed home from church. Rested. What a great thing resting is. In the afternoon I unloaded the wood from the truck and fired up the plow truck. Spent 3 hours plowing our place , a couple neighbors and the subdivision roads.
It supposed to get colder this week. With the snow we've been having. I wanted things tuned up nice so they can get a good cold set. Will make a noticeable difference driving on for the next 5 months.

No fire overnight again but started one when I got up around 2:00 am as house was down to 68 degrees. But now I'll just let that burn down. Still supposed to be warm daytime.
