Got down to 36ºF this morning. Sorta unexpected as I really wasn't watching the short term weather forecast after the last storm went by.
Took me a minute this morning to realize the funny 'ticking' sound was the radiators warming up.
Must be time to cut down a tree or two for heat this Winter.

34 out right now, calling for 22 for the low tonight, basswood and maple in the OWB.

Grabbed the iso-core and did about an hour of splitting and stacking yesterday and tonight as the horses water trough filled. Calm nights in the 30s make nice hand splitting nights.

Plus when it gets dark at 6, soon to be 5. If you want to get anything done it's going to be in the dark.

Oh ya. Nov, Dec and Jan are the dark months.
I got another 475 lumin Milwaukee head light last week for my wife. So we both have them. My favorite headlight. As we r off grid. But not fully electrified yet . And some evenings I don't want to listen to the generator. Even tho it's pretty quite. I will shut it down and use my headlight. I also picked up a 1k lumin Makita 18 volt or corded work light. That thing put out a lot of light. Too much sometimes.
I put a 5 ah battery in it and it lasts quite a while.
About 30 at the house . 1 split of seasoned white Spruce with the bark on and 3 small rounds of fkws in the stove.

Started a fire in the wood furnace this morning. Sitting right at the upper 20's here with more snow on the way today...tapering off though.

The deck railing (cleaned off yesterday of course) looks to be holding 5-6 on it.

43 outside loaded oak in basement stove at 5am. Indoor temp is 68 and wife was grumbling about being cold. It’s going to be colder tomorrow, so it looks like the main floor is going to have its first fire.
Wife asked me this morning if I thought I had 5yrs of wood and asked if I thought it would rot before using it. It sounds to me like a MIL question. I have the next 5 workdays off to work on 10 years.

34* right now, 72 downstairs. Heard the furnace come on in middle of night, didn't run long, but still came on . Loaded up with SS wood before bed. Woke up with at 4:30 and started a fire with pine, ash, cherry. Loading up some ash before work.
