40s and windy here. My 89 year old father in law is joining us for dinner this evening. He gets chilled easily now so I made a nice soft maple fire for his comfort and enjoyment. He loves to relax by our fire. image.jpg .

So far the weather guessers haven't mentioned the frost word yet so it may not be next week.

Here either, coldest low in the week forecast is mid 40's. Now they're promising a cold November/December. We'll see.

We are not at all used to this much snow and the daytime high still getting above freezing.
In some ways it's okay. As I have projects I need to do. But the driving by and large sucks Bad. Vehicles and trucks going off the roads and highways. Slip sliding around. Took over an hour extra today going to the mine and back because it's warm out.

I picked beans out of the garden yesterday. Unheard of this late. July was cold so things came later than usual.

My phone says 30f with a feel of 24f at 8AM. Our first real frost of the year. Lit up the stove last night for the first fire of the season. Just some misc. chunks, shorts, nuggets and some pine that was scattered around and handy. Gonna have to get some real wood in the basement over the weekend. I hope to get some saw time in as well. Had a huge backyard overhaul project (I should have done a continuing thread on that) that took all the spare time late this summer and early fall. But that’s done and firewood season is here so time to change gears!

Roads and highways were terrible here today. I spent over half the day chained up.
My boss had to take a box truck to Fairbanks today. He came upon this half way there.
    Somehow, it stayed wheels down.
And , no it is not on a road, highway , driveway or pad. That tank trailer is well and truly in the ditch !! Resized_20211015_113507.jpeg

Sitting at 40 but feels colder than that.

It rained overnight but it looks like that'll be it for the day. Struggling to break into the 50's today.

Storm coming through this afternoon, suppose to drop down to low 60s. Maybe tomorrow we'll have lift off if it's rainy and damp.

Good morning. Its warmed up in our area of the Rockies 4c/39f. Ive been burning some fir with big knots that wont stack nice, and the house is still toasty from last night so Ill let the stove go out and get it going tonight. Heres my morning view from my living room patio taken moments ago. The avalanche chutes in the back take me about 20-25 minutes to hike to from my house. The photo is a bit dark as its a grey morning but check out all the larch in full fall color!
