Had a couple of these tonight while grilling dinner. 60 degrees while I was grilling. 45 degrees outside now. Burning some Aspen rounds and Douglass Fir bark to knock the chill off before bed. Happy Friday!!
How I got 2 of the same pics Uploaded I have No idea. 29° currently. Calm . Dark. Fire killed white spruce in the stove . There, fixed it
28° currently. Calm. FKWS = Fire Killed White Spruce . In the stove. I had 3 rounds from 4 to 6 " dia in the stove all day while we were in town. Got home and opened the draft and off they went. Warmed the house from 50° up to 72° before they were burned down to coals. They lasted more than 12 hours. That's pretty good for Alaskan firewood.
Not cold enough for a fire yet 47° started 10 gallons of apple wine. Pulled some large ash trees up from the river bottom biggest my 28"bar didn't show through.
High barely 60s and lows in 40s. No fires yet. Wife hasn’t even shut windows yet!! The sun and windows are getting house to 70 and she likes the cool fall temperatures.. I’m
54 out side, calling for 45 tonight. The misses was telling me I was trying to kill her with hyperthermia as it was cold in the house... So I started the wood boiler yesterday. Got popular, willow and elm in the OWB. 69 in the house.
I started up the Resolute about 1:30 this a.m. not because the temp dipped but to casually heat the honey frames to extract. I didn't need a raging fire or high b.t.u.s, just enough to change the viscosity a tad. Heat can harm honey and we're darn proud of what our girls make over the summer. I prefer nighttime to keep visitors out of the house too. Nothing moves as tenaciously as a honeybee following the scent of honey. After finishing that I was going to go back upstairs to bed but I realized that the wood stove heat felt just as comfy as the bed, so I napped for a couple hours. Just fantastic! Low of 50 here in far nor-cal. Happy to have refuge from the 100+ of summer. Windows open and loving it. The only wood burning around here is all these darn fires!
We'll have a FLF or a 5LF......five log fire. All oak, a couple pieces to start, throw the rest on and let'er rip. Produces a nice lump of heat for the first floor. It is supposed to be 70 today, so looking to take the morning chill off. My pine hasn't been covered, but has been out for a couple years. Not daring to burn it yet. I have snow envy..... Even though "Thou shalt not envy thy neighbors snow". Sca
