Well Dennis, we had a very nice day here. Upper 60's, lots of sunshine and dry dry dry! No wind either!
29 °F this morning. Calm . Fire killed white spruce in the stove. I really like the 3 - 5" diameter rounds. Don't have to split them . No mess making bark , and they hold a fire real well/last
73ºF overnight, 76ºF now. Cold front is supposed to come thru later pushing some rain ahead of it. Maybe twenty degrees lower tomorrow. Saw/heard my first second mosquito last night picking habanero peppers at dusk.
Beautiful day today. Currently 64* looking at 70 or so as high. Mid 40s for low. Same for tomorrow. Getting close to lift off.
Don’t ya like how most skip over the smaller stuff for large trees then go home and make splits the size of the trees they passed over.
I incorporate LOTS of rounds into my wood burning. As a matter of fact, I cut up and stacked a handful of 4-6” diameter Lodgepole Pine rounds yesterday.
I will grab every log I can get that's 4-12". They hold a good fire in the boiler & never see a splitter. The big ones do take a bit longer to dry, but it's worth it. Now as to the weather, yesterday was low 50's north wind & rain, not so nice. Today was low 70's & sun, pretty nice! Looks like the beginning of fall will be decent anyway.
I started a fire with some pine earlier tonight, up here was still 72 before the fire but the basement was cooling off so we warmed it up.
