57f @5:30 AM. Needs to drop another 17f before I put fire to the stove. Heading in the correct direction. Finally
55 now at 7:45 AM - only getting up to 75 today! Looking like a nice few days with lower temps and humidity. Turning off the AC for awhile!
Rain out of here. Took the dog out at 330am and it was so clear. Woke up to 53. So nice and cool... for now
85 now in Oklahoma. High of 95 for today. Humidity is high to match. Can't wait for cooler weather here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Heck, I had to cover myself with a sheet last night! No blankets yet for this guy. It was in the low 40's this morning. Threw on long plants (not because of the temps; because I was on my way to get a load of firewood) t-shirt and headed out to the bakery. Buddy said it was 41!
Nice sunny day with temps in low 70's and no humidity. A welcomed change. Clouded over late. We got about 6.5" of rain from the remnants of Ida. Wind dropped some chestnut oak acorns in the yard. Assorted scraps in the firepit. Cooked steak on the charcoal.
It was nice here today (not far from BuZZsaw). 51 tonight, but warm tomorrow. No fire. The kiddo wants to have a fire here before leaving for school in a few days. Not sure it will be cool enough though! This will be our first full season of heating w wood. I'm not sure how much we'll use, but am looking to conserve a little wood this season....being a wee bit less liberal with throwing a few logs on.... Sca
When the overnight temps get into the 50's, its close the windows at night for us. 60's overnight is fine as the daytime temps (reaching into the 80's) usually overheat the house anyway. 59 right now.
Has not broken into the 40's here at night yet. Lowest I have seen is 51* on our weather station. Daytime temps in the 70's with no appreciable rain. Went up into the high country a few days ago to see if there are any mushrooms. Woods are tinder dry with no fungi at all let alone the desirable species. Even the damps and seeps areas of the forest that will hold a few chanterelles in the driest weather are bare! I am waiting for a huge Doug Fir to be taken down just below our house. That, hopefully, will be my first and only wood score this year.
High of 72 again yesterday. It is certainly better than those hot and humid days. Leaves are turning in spots but still mostly the soft maples.
