Nice load of Osage burning right now. Very wet and chilly out so the stove will take the bite out of the exterior conditions. Dawgs will appreciate it.
Dark and sprinkling/raining here for a few days, wow I am not used to this humidity! Turned on the pellet stove to take the chill off like you, turned it up higher to reduce the humidity but that didn't work, just made it warm and still humid. Ick. I forgot their names, Sir .... and ..... ?
Yeah, we're on a fire ban, but I was hydroplaning on the highway going to HD this afternoon. WW- Duke and Earl. I sing to them on occasion, they don't care, they're pretty modest.
Low 40’s overnight. Been raining for about a week straight. No fire here, but I’ve been rocking a hoodie all morning. Grateful for the moisture.
Rained hard yesterday and this morning I dumped 3.45 inches of rain out of the gauge. We got over 5.5 inches of rain in the past few days. Corn around here seems to have jumped up in the past week. Amazing what a little bit of rain does to corn.
I am jealous of you guys, even Tamarack, I just came home from Medford,OR, I don’t know what the actual temp hit, but 113 was forecast, one station even predicted 116 was possible. Came home, Portland set an ALL TIME RECORD of 108 yesterday, with 111 predicted today. Here near Brightwood, we were predicted to see 110, I have never even heard of it getting any where near that warm here, we rarely see 100, at 1:00 pm our outside temp sensor was reading 108. The temp spiked early, we have “Cooled” to 103 now at 4:00 pm Doug
Not quite hotter than all 4 hells...that'll be later. But its toasty. Chimney's cleaned, stove is jacked up, wire brushed in and outside of the top, cleaned and painted top today. New gaskets, cut the flu pipe and reinstall next day or so. Will wait for cool spell to fire it, rather than the first chilly day when we don't want to open windows..... Sca
Well, Portland just set it’s All time High Temp, for a second day in a row. The previous all time high temp was 107, yesterday hit 108, and Today’s high set an official record of 112 I haven’t heard what the previous record high temp for our area on the mountain, or what the official High was today, but our reading of 108 was very likely the all time record high for this area. Spent a lot of time inside with the AC. Doug
I thought Oregon was a cool state? I literally thought it was always overcast and raining there. Stereotype I guess. Just like everyone thinks Colorado is snowy year round like the Coors Light commercials It does stay relatively cool up here at 9,000 feet though. I think anything over 85 degrees might melt me like a vampire. I was wearing my insulated Carhartt jeans and hooded sweatshirt all day here. We live in a high spot in my area. I think we might have hit 50 degrees at mi casa today?
Actually, Oregon is a very diverse state as far as Climate and Geography goes. we have some of the most Beautiful Coastlines to be found, the Willamette Valley grows more fruits and vegetables than you can imagine, plus it has some world class vineyards, that have won awards in France. Sadly, our largest cities have become Embarrassing Blights. We have 2 Major Rivers, the Willamette and the Columbia, more lakes and reservoirs than I can find time to enjoy. The Cascade Mountains are home to nearly year round snow skit, the US Olympic Ski Team trains on the Palmer snowfield almost all year, just 40 minutes from where I live Central Oregon is home to High Desert, and Eastern Oregon is home to Wheat and Potato farms. There aren’t many States that can offer as much as Oregon. There is still a lot of this country that I would Love to see, but I haven’t found any place else that I would rather live Yep, the Western part of the state, especially the North Western part does live up to the Soggy reputation, though it seems like it Rains here 13 months of the year, July, August and Early September are usually Warm and Dry. June is usually Cooler and Wetter than we have seen this year. We often can’t get into many of the areas that we cut firewood in, until after Memorial Day, because of Snow, but that is around 5,000’ elevation and above Colorado is definitely on my list of states to see, I just don’t think that the Denver airport did it justice Doug
Yeah. Colorado is similar, except for the coast lines. We have high mountain passes that are still closed due to snow. We have glaciers here that never melt. But Denver is hot, just like any major metropolitan city. The Denver airport is a funny thing. Everyone thinks they are going to land in Aspen or Breckenridge when they fly to Denver. Then they land on the eastern plains - damm near Kansas
The local news weather forecast was for tomorrow (Monday) to set yet another record high, the prediction is for 114, starting to feel more like Phoenix (AZ) than Portland Phoenix, Oregon, near Medford has been trying to imitate it’s Arizona namesake Doug
I sure feel fot everyone out there having such hot weather. The hottest I've been in is 109 and I don't care to experience that again...and that was a dry heat. Dry or not, that is hot. Now to think about many out there with no air conditioning really makes me feel bad for them.
