-12 here, fun fun.... Trying to decide if I want to drive the truck tomorrow or not. I think I'll drive the car, don't feel like going out to plug the truck in.
From NOAA for our area, nice! I'll be cutting the biggest trees first this spring so we can fill in the empty spots in our wood stacks. TonightPartly cloudy, with a low around -27. Wind chill values as low as -43. West wind 11 to 14 mph. Washington's BirthdaySunny and cold, with a high near -2. Wind chill values as low as -45. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Monday NightPartly cloudy, with a low around -18. Wind chill values as low as -26. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
It's 6.6 degrees..... two rounds are ash, split in back on top is red oak, split in front on bottom is white oak....that's it, 4 hunks for the night.....
It's been another cold winter but lets hope this will be the last of the Arctic cold. I would rather have the cold than the snow they received in the New England States. I'm starting to get the itch to cut.
Same here, I have lots of wood c/s/s but a lady close by wants a bunch of trees cleared out....and seein how I'm a nice guy, and she's only 2 miles away..... Stay warm bro....that's some cold air ya got there
-13 here on my back porch, slight wind. The wind is up and down here. Just calling it a night. Boiler chucked full of Ash. Should get me 7-7.5 hours at these temps. Glad I'm not as cold as some places. Strange how a lot of places south of me are colder. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Stay warm guys.
Sure is, two years in a row. We're surrounded by trees so it cuts down the wind. The temp up here is 73, the floor temps are 73 so I'm thinking the sleeper is 68. We're at -12 so we still should drop to -20 or below, I'm thinking colder.
Same here, Gas....... Sacrificed one of my 35 + year old sugar maple splits last night. Had a beautiful fire..... Just loaded two splits of sugar (not 35 years old).
The boiler made it to 5:00 this morning, by the time I got down there at 5:30 it had a few red coals left. I caught it in time and filled it full of White Pine. Luckily the wife and kids are off this week. So my wife will be able to fill the boiler with White Pine splits every 4-5 hours during the day this week. I will use the Ash exclusively for the overnight burns.
We had - 25.4 for a low, not sure what the realfeel was. The living room was 68 and the sleeper was 66 when we woke up. Just getting ready to fill the wood stove up with Beech.
Well, I hope all of you are staying safe!!! I know your warm mostly. It's been a long time that it hit below 0 here but we did it when I got up. I was -2 F here, thats cold for here! I just got the house to 70* since 0530, she was cooooold in here 52*, Grandma only had some small coals but she's up and running again, For everyone above me North, and in this cold snap, please stay safe! Nothing outside is worth getting hurt over.
1* outside when I got up at 7:30 and the house was 57*! Loaded up the firebox with some maple and playing catchup heating the place. Currently 64*. I wish all of my walls were insulated lol. The back bedrooms where I had the floor and walls spray foamed are nice and cozy with the electric radiators.
HOLY SCHNICKEYS !!! -34 F and the F does't just stand for Fahrenheit !!!!!!!!! 66 in IIRC last year the lowest it got was -27. Running a quick load of small pieces and kruglies wide open just to get the temp up then I'll bank in a nice load of oak, beech and coal.
