33F for the overnight last night. Had our first overnight fire in the last couple weeks. Trying to finish off our stack of elm. Hoping that we can finish off the season by only burning uglies. We'd like to save the maple and ash for next year.
It warmed up to about 42 here. A little sun, but mostly cloudy. And windy made it cold. The Wood Gun has been cooking Cherry and Beech from about 8 am on. Feels much better in here. And the bubblin goo cooker is no longer turning on.
Fraid we are at the end of the burning season. Several days pushing 80* a bit back and night time temps at the 48*+. If we even think of having a morning fire, the house is too hot to sleep well ay night. I guess I will have to take the wheeler of wood, in the garage, back out to the shed and stack it. We have burned under 3 cords this year. Of course the minute I do that, the temps will plummet, rain will start and a morning fire will feel good to drive off the chill and damp....Maybe I will leave the wheeler full in the garage so the Wife won't drive me out in the rain in the morning to get wood for a fire to keep her warm!
Mid 30s this morning, no wind and sunny. Cherry to take the chill off. One cribbed column left on deck. Don't want to really bring anymore down from stacks.
Nope, it's 66. You know how the media can be; I believe you! After reading it at 66, you don't need them to check it against!
30/52 here but the aspect ratio of the sun warms the house like having the heat maxed out. 76 inside with windows open.
Been cool enough for some evening fires, but stove is cold. This weekend I am repacking it for it's trip east for repairs. Best guess is a 1.5 cord this season.
39 here this morning. Fire still out from yesterday afternoon. Going to be warm again today. 65ish they say. Bubblin goo should turn on this morning when they all start to take showers.
Gasifier you were absolutely right. I left the wood in the garage. This morning was 40* overnight and raining and only 50* right now. Wif told me when I got out of bed that "I (she) had better not get up to a cold house"!! I went right down and started a fire. Domestic Bliss has been restored thanks to your Sage Advice!
47/72 Lumber cutoffs. I'm not sure why, but sometimes when there are lots of clouds and low barometric pressure my stove actually burns better with the draft half closed. Today is one of those days.
