Mr Frost is not going quietly into the night. -1* this morning and a comfy 72 inside. Now if the coffee would just finish perking on the stove.
It was 16.3 this morning with a good wind, the Liberty's first load was more cherry, maple and some pine. Since it was windy out, the cutting will wait until tomorrow and the spaghetti sauce for our meal tomorrow was made this morning.
Up to 62* outside so far today. Going to work on the backhoe. Warming the house up with some Lodge pole pine. Very little wind. It will be a good day.
Built a fire @ the house sit this morning . seasoned aspen in the PineRidge wood stove. Yesterday was snow plowing both here and the homestead subdivision. To plow here I had to get the 4 wheeler running here. Which required me to buy a new battery for my friends quad. Then there was ice in the gas system so I had to get the hair dryer out and thaw that out. Brownee fired up good at home so that was nice. But it's a lot more to plow out there . We got about twice as much snow there as we did in town . The banks are getting too high for my plow . I'm going to have to come up with some kind of a tow behind wing plow by next winter. At least I have a good ramp to load the snowgo, Smokey and Eskimo P. Logger (sled) onto the trailer .
40* over night. Upper 30's the past few. We have been having a good fire in the AM and then let it burn out around noon as the house gets too hot. Burning Doug Fir and big Fir bark chunks. We have started using the second to last row in the wood shed right side. Wood use has gone way down the past couple weeks!
It’s been hovering around freezing and looks to be holding steady for the overnight. I’ve had a small fire going all day with plenty of help from my wife. Burning one split of Ash at a time which is just enough to keep things comfortable without cooking us out of the house.
NOAA has us with a low of 16 in the morning, tonight the Liberty will see a load of beech, sugar maple and some ironwood.
49 right now. Just started a small load of oak. Mornings have been right around freezing all week and we’ve been doing morning and evening fires, letting them die out during the day.
Thanks for sharing a glimpse into life in Alaska. I've been up there in the summer. It's beautiful country.
We had 13.6 this morning with a load of cherry going while we had coffee and tonight we're at 28.6 with some cherry, ironwood, maple and cherry supplying the heat.
