Supposed to be a nice week with temps in the low 40's today and slowly rising thru the week, getting up to 50 by next weekend. Lows in the 20's so snow melt should be gradual. Looks like a week of only having to put wood in the stove once a day. I have lots of fire starters
Spruce keeping it 72*, it’s nice knowing my snow will be here for a while longer, I have some more ice fishing and snow machining to do. The I have to fish out of Valdez all summer.
Jambed the stove full last night, and stuffed 'er again this morning. Kinda wish we lost power, just as a dry run for the real thing. But there are 18000 CT residents w/out power this morning. I cannot fathom how they are getting along....not like one can run the gasser for a couple hours on a borrowed genset, and be ok. Before the woodstove we used a couple kero burners, more for spot heating one room for comfort, but also in case the juice went out. My heart goes out to all the un prepared, and hope that they take action to be ready. Sca
12F here this morning & the breeze held up all night. Sucked some wood down, but that's what it's for. Made it to 40 with sun. Low of 30 tonight, so loaded Poplar & Elm.
34 out right now, only dropping to 27 tonight. Was windy today but sun was nice, snow is melting a little more every day. They are talking we could be down to little to no snow by next week.
It's 15.8 tonight with a load of beech and sugar maple going in the wood stove. If the forecast is correct we should have another 3-5 inches of snow by late afternoon tomorrow with a temp in the low 20's tomorrow morning.
18 this morning, the large splits of Cherry and rounds of Ash from last night are still keeping the Wood Gun hot.
Got into the mid sixties yesterday and the house was pretty warm when I got home from work. Had a meeting in the evening so went with out a fire. It’s a little cooler inside this morning but not bad at all. Weather bug says it’s 29 outside this morning. I’ll throw a couple cottonwood splits in the stove this morning, mostly so I have some flames to watch while I drink coffee and check in with you guys. I think I’m pretty much into shoulder season now. Planning to be out of state all next week. Heating season is winding down for me
Bottomed out at 20 overnight. 27 now. I took a peek at the months forecast (for whatever prediction value that has) and it looks like the little bit of snow we did get this winter should pretty much be gone by the end of the month. We'll see. It wasn't too many years ago that we had a very early spring.
29f here this morning heading to mid-60's. Worked until 10:30 last night so no fire. Made a small one this morning with locust to help the furnace until it warms up. Agree with others that I think the worst of the cold is behind us. Now the snowy months.
Spruce beating back the chill, it’s a toasty 72*. My middle son putting in some extra time, his team qualified for the state championship tournament he leaves Thursday. My oldest son’s team took 2nd place in the state championship tournament this past weekend.
House was a little chilly this morning around 60 inside, 26 outside. Trying to force SS and not burn the good stuff. Looks like next week be in 60s.
We had 23.4 this morning with a combo of soft & sugar maple with some beech going in the wood stove. So far we only received one inch of snow overnight when they are calling for 3-5, but the advisory goes until 7 tonight.
Rope congratulations to the kids! Good job. Into the high 40s and sunny today, calling for 20 tonight, OWB is working away on elm.
We have 23.5 tonight with a low in the single digits possible so I loaded up the Liberty with beech and ironwood.
About 15 this morning. I’m waiting for the Wood Gun to kick on so I can put some more Cherry and Ash in like I did last night.
