Stop listening to Rotti then. I know not of what you speak. Maybe you have me confused with Smoke Show?
Pretty cold for here last night -8 was loaded full with mostly red oak and a little ash, 20 today low 19 tonight ,winds 16 G 25 mph The next few days pretty cold
Burning more elm splits 19° out and falling. Got the fire going after we hot home, and had valentines dinner out. The room with the FP is already a couple degrees warmer. I'm so looking forward to having a nice efficient insert next year.
Our power company gives us an "Average Temperature" during each billing period. No idea where in the state they measure it, or how, but here is the recent history for January, in degrees Fahrenheit: 2005 15 2006 27 2007 23 2008 24 2009 18 2010 21 2011 15 2012 25 2013 19 2014 16 2015 13 It is -8F now and falling. Luckily there is no wind. The cows had been choosing to sleep outside, but some were in the barn tonight. I'm down to 3 cord in the woodshed, but will be able to get back out to the stacks by the time I need to replenish.
I've got -10 right now at a quarter to 10. Ash splits with mixed blend pellets gasifying in the boiler.
that's a good movie a similar movie that is good too, White House down http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2334879/?ref_=nv_sr_1
4 here in RI as a low tonight. I remember temps like this as a kid in the 70's, but not much like this in a very longtime.
Got 8 degrees outside, 78 inside. Think I have just enough of the ash left to get through this cold snap, then I'll start working on a cord of red maple.
Glad its only -16c right now as i was coaling down lastnite and just woke up. Stove is back in action with elm.
Woke up to -2 outside 70 inside, had a small bed of coals in the smoke dragon. Threw in some kindling, then added some maple and oak.
Almost 10deg. this morning and the house was 70 just before 7 a.m. Looked at the forecast and it shows OT falling steadily all day and night until tomorrow morning at 7 will be -21F. That WAS NOT in the forecast yesterday, or the day before. Looks like the DV will be working all day and night ......again. Looks like MY forecast for firewood use this winter is going to be wrong too. Anyway, put a few small splits in the stove to burn down the coals and warm the house a touch, then a full load will be going in. I may have to set the alarm for 4-5 a.m. to make sure the house isn't getting chilly, and I have a feeling I'll be leaving the primary open a little more than usual for a hotter burn.
