Loon and Rottiman have said it all for me. Wish I didn't have to go out today.

At least it is nice and sunny, so we'll have some solar gain to help heating.

Stinny, I initially read your post" nothing right around the stove" to mean: everything wrong about the stove. Relieved when I realized you were referring to the smoke and not the stove. Hope things are better now. Cold heavy air cause this? Kind of counter intuitive. Extreme cold = strong draft.....

Clear skies last night at midnite when I went to bed . It was zero. Was sure it would drop to 20 below overnight.
Woke up to -1 around 6:30.
    72 in.
Wood room is about half full. Lowest its been all winter. Pretty good species mix of whats left in there.
Now that it isn't stacked to the ceiling ,,, sometime this week I'll fill it out of the attached shed. Snows 3 foot deep around the outside pile. # 1 reason I built that attached shed.
Wood in that shed has been in there 3-4 years. All beech. I'm thinking its gonna be shirt free February the rest of the month for the lil woman.

-17.5 on the Radio Shack Special this morning, I never made it down to fill the wood stove for an overnight fire (burning down coals) but I did kick on the pellet stove which saved my butt.

It was 78 in the basement, 67 upstairs in the living room and a bit cooler in the sleeper, 65.

The pellet stoves getting a break today so I finally have the Liberty going with some nice Beech & Maple.

It was cold for here, 7* F when I look at 0530. The house was about 70 and had a stove bottom full of hot coals from 2200 when I put the last split in, Not bad for the Old Girl. :)

In my mind, the snow and sub freezing temps just need to last until after march 8th weekend. It can all melt and warm up that Sunday night and I'd be happy. We're renting a big cabin up north for my 40th bday and snowmobiling with friends.

I have 1 row of wood left at the house css'd 10ft x 4’ x 18-20". I'll be burning a bit with the cold temps we are having, but i should have enough for the season.

It's a balmy 16° out now, but it's going to be short lived with single digits to negatives the next few days. Windy too, 40 mph winds tomorrow.
