This was loaned out and not supposed to be returned this season. Spruce keeping the kids and dog warm
After sunrise, the temps bottomed out at -26. Another clear day here, so that'll lead to another night of cold temps.
Getting progressively colder again here right through the weekend hitting 0. Not as cold as many of you holy smokes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
24, flurries, and a north wind. Boiler had 12" of hedge and BL coals when I loaded it at noon...threw a bunch of white oak on top of it. She's cooking now....pure heat waves...not even steam coming out of the stack.
Yup....I'm thinking you are the one that must have sent him a PM to share what cold temps he has......just like I was sharing with you the poor weather I had!!!
These temps and I are well acquainted. Decades upon decades of renewed acquaintances every winter! Usually, it's much colder here, but this has been a mild winter all in all. All those tires and railroad ties in the OWB are finally beginning to pay off!
We'll start seeing colder temps starting on Wednesday but nothing like Rope sent you. Tonight NOAA is calling for a low of 10 and we're at 3.4.
I was so grateful not to have to go out in the cold this morning ....to have to head out for work, that is. I even took my sweet time to check on the OWB! Right now, it is at -14. I just loaded the OWB for the overnight.....the sky isn't as clear as it has been for the last three nights; that's good!
-12 right now red oak, birch and maple in the OWB. 11 hour shift at work, got home and started in on chores, got a call asking if I could hual a trailer so headed back out and got that hualed, just got back in from finishing up on chores. 16 hours mostly outside, I am officially calling it a night, removing a few layers and start over again at 430am
-6F and 70F. Just turned down the air on a fresh load of Elm. Take care all. Stay warm through this stretch. Off to count sheep
Nice blanket of snow, in about two hours. More expected. I do enjoy my pre-dawn tending of the OWB. Poor old Ebbie is less enthused for them now. She will come outside and take care of business and want to return inside. No more hanging out with me and running to the door only because I am going in. The frolic in her has expired.
14F & light snow, dropping to around 10. Not much wind, so the heat holds up pretty well. Loaded some big Ash rounds with White Oak splits. Off to check my eyelids for holes.
16 outside, 71 indoors running the BLOC mix again (Black Locust, Oak, and Cherry) which blocks out the cold pretty darn well. Supplies of all 3 are starting to dwindle but I’ve got plenty of Ash and Birch behind it to carry me through to shoulder season.
I knew it after two days...return to sender...Thanks a lot USPS. Still don’t have all the Christmas gifts ordered online, but you can find this
14* here and snowing lightly now and picking up later, 4 to 6" expected, of course the guessers will muck it up. Burning 3 year stacked and top covered, Red Oak & Hemlock. I can honestly say, that's a combo I never did before. All the wood I cut is only segregated by age.
It must have cleared up overnight. Outside temp right now is -33, no telling haw much colder it'll drop with the typical post dawn down trend. Rope, someone else must have returned the cold temps to you; it wasn't this guy! Oh yeah, with the wind (10 mph) , it feels like -57.
