Been windy, snowy, sleety, crappy. No work in the woods today. But plenty of outside work moving wood and scraping and cleaning snow up at parents and our place.
It's 4 degrees (5 for a high today) burning more Yellow Birch. We'll be burning our best wood this week, a chit load of Beech and Ironwood. In the other corner we'll have the pellet stove set at 77 or even higher if we get the temps I saw.
Sorry guys...Should've kept my mouth shut. I realize my temperatures won't win me many friends here...
Same here sun is barely setting. 76 in 55 out. Maybe time to clean some ash. Would love to have just a little of that eastern snow.
Sitting home through another snow storm....going to end up with another 12 inches from this storm. 74 inside...16 outside.....burning small splits of maple and oak.
Winter tally so far for the season, I'm almost to the bottom of my second cord! New Baffle in Grandma worked great but the winter "here" has been no where "near as bad" as some of you folks! Usually I'm over three about now. I haven't even hit the cherry yet! That'll be sweet for next year.
7 here right now with Pine burning. And it's been trying to snow off and on most of the day. Without success, thankfully! A little freezing rain earlier but nothing that added up to any problems I've seen here.
11 degrees tonight so we have another load of Yellow Birch going. It looks like our temps will jump into the 20's for the next three days before the colder air moves in.
21º out and 72º in. Just loaded with hickory and beech on a nice coal bed of white oak. Inside temps will start climbing soon, cat has a nice heavy glow going after a light cleaning yesterday. Calling for 30º and sunny tomorrow, but end of the week is looking like single digits.
You folks E- N/E.- stay warm. Sounds like you're getting hammered. We need some of that snow. I was in a T-shirt today, that's not right. Weird weather.
Warmed right up this morning to +10. One day of relative warmth then right back into the "freeze". 72 here in the cave. Both stoves stirred right back into life after a 10 hour burn. Mixed diet of beech and maple keeping everybody and every thing happy.
12 on the back porch. Ash and Pine overnight went well and I was down to just a few coals this morning. Small Pine going now for quick heat, then over to Ash for the day burn
9 when I got up Out of the oak layer that I was in. Wood room is down to half full. I had filled it to ceiling 2 weeks ago Saturday so it looks like in these temps I wood get a month burning out of a full room. Outside pile is now covered in 3 feet of snow and ice. Time to tap into attached shed in about a week so I don't have to shovel just to get wood in. Built the wood/furnace room and attached shed on about 15 years ago thinking it will make my life easier the older I get,,, glad I did. My shoulders have been bothering me the last few months and the lil woman took it upon herself to make an appointment with her chiro last week. Never been to this guy before so it was quite a lengthy interview. He asked previous injury/pain issues . So I went down the list. 2 major hip displacements, class 4 clavicle separation in right shoulder, torn bicep on left arm, about 7 pins in right elbow, and so on. He sez ,,,"is that all ??" I say ,," that I can think of now." So we go on to the whole body x-ray and back scan. He comes out after 20 minutes and sez , "I have some serious concerns and am wondering how much neck and hip pain you have." My neck bothers me when I drive/work 12+ hours and my hip minor pain on and off through winter. I really don't let it bother me. Advil if it gets bad, I telz him. He sez,,, " I'm very surprised you can walk without a major limp and pain because you left leg is over an inch shorter than yur right. I was like WTF>!WTF>!WTF! I had no idea. We'll see what he sez when I go back tomorrow. I'll keep rollin like I always have.
