16* out 62* in.....I guess I should have loaded some oak last night.

Red maple and oak mix in the nc30 this morning to bring the house temp back up.

We just spray foamed the crawlspace under the house last winter and it made a difference, but I think the main problem is the very open floorplan and the fact that 75% of the walls in the living area are windows or sliding glass doors.

A bigger stove may be something to consider.
A Fisher Mama bear would be nice...

    Noted with understanding.
I will endeavor to source better wood. :salute:

Tonight for instance, the stove is burning well due to smaller splits of red oak.

Fire can be a finicky thing.
I like all the nuances and details.

15 now. Temps will drop through the day.

Got between 1-2 inches of snow yesterday afternoon/evening; can't tell yet if there was any more overnight.

29* out 70* in when I got up this morning. Apparently I've been letting too much air in to the stove. The last few days the house was cold. Granted it was colder outside but I don't think that was the huge difference. I closed the air more last night and the house was hot when I went to bed.

    Red maple this morning.

27f heading for a high of 32f before snow tonight, talking up to 6". Got off early so pulled the tractor/snowblower down to do some work on it plus try and find room in the garage for it. Also need to run out and get some gas for it and mix for the single stage blower. Time permitting, plan on pulling out the old 2-stage and checking it out. Should be loaded for bear by the end of today.:D

29 now, low of 23 tonight. Feels colder than it is....damp, cloudy, and breezy.

Boiler has a good sized load of black walnut on there.

Firing up the OWB last evening, I noticed the bright moon with no clouds. You just know it was gonna be a cold one.

    Sitting at -17 right now.

Good news is we're shooting for the 20's today/tomorrow.

25f heading for a maybe high of 31f. Guessing .5" snow with the heavier stuff starting this afternoon for 6" total. With any luck, I can get my job done and home before the heavy stuff.
