52* yesterday....out splitting and stacking in a sweatshirt. Overnight wind came up (40 - 55) and temps came down...with maybe 3-5 inches of snow. Hard to measure it as it's going by you sideways. 8* during the day...3* now (7:30 pm)...snow has stopped, but wind is still blowing it around. Lost power in the morning between 4:30 and 6:30, but the Dutchwest kept up. 3* outside...77* inside with Ash and some Pine and Poplar thrown in, as well.
Temp is at 19 now. Outside, the snow is taking a break. It is still snowing just nowhere near as hard as it was a couple of hours ago. 4" of heart attack snow waiting to be moved with windy conditions also. Wouldn't surprise me if the power blinks a time or two. I'll move some snow when I fire up a little later.
It's been mild here the last few days. Tomorrow it's supposed to be near 50. No fires lately. Tomorrow night temps are supposed to drop into the 20's with snow. Looks like we'll have a white Christmas. I'll start a fire Christmas Eve and have nice coals to work with Christmas morning.
Got to 52 here today, 49 & dropping now. 20's tomorrow with a stiff wind & a couple inches of snow. White Christmas maybe? Elm & Pine in the boiler.
9F and 72F. 35mph wind with snow. Wind Chill -16F. Nice Reloaded with mostly Elm a moment ago. Make no mistake. We have outstanding draft tonight!
Well, made it through the day, but it was touch and go for awhile. Work makes us use Ford Transit Connect vans, mine is a 2010. I will never understand how manufacturers can not put a little effort into their crap at least a little winter worthy. All I can say is sad. Got about 1.5" of snow, blowing and around 18f now.
34* out 70* in....its supposed to hit 50* here with rain today. Then tonight the temps will drop into the 20s and it will be more 'normal' for the next couple of days. We shall see..... Red maple again.
Looks like around 8" out there just waiting and still piling up; slowly but surely. Temps are sitting at 7.
1F and 65F this AM. Better turn up the stove a bit before my other half gets up! It's white outside with continuing wind. Amazing how a few degrees less than normal feels chilly in the house.
It was 45f at 5:30 AM yesterday morning. Now is has fallen to -3f with a -20 or so windchill. I suppose we ended up with 9-10", but it is piled up a lot deeper right now at the end of our driveway! As far as burning goes...our Regency insert is supposed to be delivered by the end of the month, with instal tentatively scheduled for 1/05. I have a lot of spilt dry covered wood outside, and a good 1/2 a cord in the garage ready to go!
Low 50's yesterday and woke up to 9 this morning. Looks like we will have a white Christmas thanks to the 1 inch of snow we got yesterday. Going to be cold today and tomorrow and then a bit of a warm up. Nothing below zero yet.
29 out cold and clear. Been saving some good stuff for today and tomorrow. Glad it decided to get as cold as it's been. Today will be holly and plum. Tonight will be all madrona.
Woke up to -1 and had no idea since the stove kept er warm overnight. So glad for the upgrade. My old stove would have left us freezing right now.
Oh yeah, it's definitely fun. I love driving around in the snow with 4wd. It's those other people that forget, or never learned how to drive in the snow that worries me.
Yes. Yes it is colder now. It was 52 ° yesterday here. 14 outside now. It's flurrying now, with 10-20 mph winds too. Overnight it was ash and Honey locust. Reloaded at 9 am with a nice Christmas assortment. Sugar Maple, apple, and Shagbark hickory. Anyone need to smoke a pork butt? It's 78° in the stove room now. I just walked outside to let the pups out and the whole neighborhood smells amazing from my apple, sugar Maple and Shagbark mix. Merry Christmas!
Looks to be around 10" that had to be moved. Still no visit from the plow; the street is deep! Strong breeze (almost windy) and 3 outside right now.
