27* out 68* in this morning. It seems as though a lot of us are warming things up with red maple. I think its supposed to be in the 40s today with mostly sunny skies. I hope we don't get hammered by winter playing catch up after Christmas.
I’ve been telling all my family that we’re getting a monster snowstorm this year, like 42”. They all of course laugh. I just have that feeling.
I know we are well overdue here in Central PA for a good winter storm. I can remember bits and pieces about the 93 blizzard. One of these days...
Very nice looking Wood burning setup you have there Donald Stamper ! My wife and I both want a fireplace/hearth like this eventually. Thought about it recently when I completed the refinance of the house at a much lower rate, but the new floors needed to happen first and foremost. We will get there sometime.
30F and 73F. Another nice calm, clear night. Loaded the stove at the beginning of half time last night. I'll give it a peek in a few hours. Doing what it does now. Keeping the place toasty. Looks like nearly 50F for a high today. We'll take that anytime! Have a great day everyone.
21 right now with the chance for a couple inches of snow during the day. Red oak mixed with some ash going in the stove this morning. I had the opportunity to score a bunch of standing dead red oak early last year on a friend's family property. He was a rookie regarding firewood and kind of a wood snob and only wanted to cut down green oak trees. He turned up his nose at the standing dead and told me I could take all I wanted (score!). I never understood why people pass up all the dead and down and only want to cut live trees. I have since passed on as much education as I can and he has (somewhat) changed his ways. At any rate, I'm definitely enjoying the BTUs provided by all that standing dead red oak!
Felt cool last night when I fired up the OWB but the thermometer read almost 30. Heading for the 40's today and tomorrow.
Much appreciated brother. I made the decision without the wife’s knowledge, something I rarely do and with some hesitation lol. But honestly it was a decision we both came to accept and appreciate. Those lower energy bills, not to mention the beauty and warmth really make Wood collecting, splitting, stacking, rotating, etc etc worth it! The one I have is an Osburne 2400. I put it in myself by watching some YouTube vids. I’d recommend about 4 strong friends when you’re gonna move the stove into place! Good luck and can’t wait to see yours!
I get the same type of feeling except I feel we are going to get snow like we've never seen before.I just don't when but it won't be long from now.
This is the year for a crazy blizzard. Would have to be in the next few weeks though. I can hear the whining now. “Ooooooohhhhhhhh.....can you believe it! 4 feet of snow, that’s 2020 for you!”
