Sleeping in the new house and slowly moving stuff in. Sheep season we went 7 days and 4 weather had us scorched in, couldn’t see 20 yards. The other 3 days 75 yards, we saw no sheep and it rained all 7 days nonstop. Moose was decent weather, we called one in to our down wind. Did not see him until too late. Fortunately winter hunting starts November 1st and I can refocus. How has your hunting going.

Sorry to hear that Tom. Hope it gets better for the winter hunting.

Mostly a bust here. As you know, the neck surgery has had much to say about if I can do anything. When hunting I've seen only does and believe it or not, last night I saw nothing. That does not happen often here. But I still have a month to go.

Frost advisory tonight. I have about 2 wheelbarrows of White Oak to burn in the basement, before 1/2 cord of Blackgum. The BG has to be 3yrs old, so I’m expecting it to burn like paper.

We are going to get a frost here tonight, we still haven't used any heat of any kind. Last night they got about 5" of snow up to my camp and Well Seasoned 's place. The plows were out.

I have 4 months to get a moose, I hope to get time off and opportunities to fill the freezer.

25 for the low last night. Inside of the cottage was way too warm (85). Had my coffee looking at the front deck getting covered with snow this morning.

    Tomorrow night's low is 21....

With our woodlot and surrounding woodlands, there are a few hundred acres of open hunting.
Too many deer, turkeys, bear ( moose are up north ), and game birds, but few if any hunters in the past 4-5 years.
When we first cleared the site for building, there were always hunters asking to hunt-- firearms and bow-- since I don't.
The locals we know who came to hunt don't go out anymore. Their kids all seem to be online ...and overweight.
What happened ? The game needs culling.
    HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Yesterday & this morning were nice! 30 yesterday & 32 this morning with some sun & heavy frost. Perfect weather for a long sleeved shirt & heavy weight pants. Great tree cutting weather. 54 & windy drizzle now, supposed to be warm overnight & then drop tomorrow. Boiler's slowly chewing on Spruce & Catalpa.

There is also a thread "introduce your self here" that you may have seen as well, it's in the "everything else" forum. Pull up a stump, have a seat, and join in!

We've already had about a half dozen frosts, including this morning. And snow to the north of us up country.

First spotty frost here this morning. 78 in the stove room when I got up at 5:30 with enough coals to relight off a couple chunks of beech overnight. Slept in this morning. We’ve been picking cherry tomatoes every couple days still but this might end it.

You're lucky to keep em this late, ours were frost killed a couple weeks back.
