Last month was nuts had snow on Mother’s Day 4 days of cold weather. 3 days of 85+ and then a high of 50 at end of month. So all 4 seasons in 18 days
Bet it felt good to, eh Loon? I took all our leftover wood that was on the porch way to the back of the property. It won't come back until September.
2 days of high humidity and heat then it cooled off I am not a summer person supposed to be high humidity today and 80's I cant wait till fall had enough of hot already and its just starting
For sure. You will probably get today what we had yesterday. Terrible weather. More rain overnight but supposed to be a little cooler today.
Got up to 65* which surprised me as we had a high thunder storm last night. Cloudy with chance of more thunderstorms. About 75 right now.
Currently 55* and rain I would light woodstove but supposed to be 77 tomorrow and house would get too hot.
It really appears that we are in for a terrible summer. We're getting July weather and it is terrible. Supposed to get to 86 again today and more rain tomorrow. This means both humidity and dewpoint will be way too high for comfort.
Just saw weather forecast. Good for the weekend with temperature in the 70's but next Tuesday forecast is for 93.
When the mozzies and black flies and biters and ticks come out, is when we go to DEET with pyrithrin. Though most look forward to warm and sunny, we don't. Sometimes they're so thick we need full screen suits leaving only hands and feet exposed. I have worn the screen suit chainsawing nude however one summer. Not for "eyes only".
meanwhile, I am getting ready to light the stove. We are expecting snow Saturday night through Monday. Low down to 26. Beautiful day today. 74 for a high.
Too dry here now---warming up to the 60's . We have brush piles to burn but can't until we get some soaking rain. The ocean is still barely 50 F---it's B.B. temp for those who dare.
Much cooler today but that sun is still hot. Was hoeing this morning and really worked up a sweat. Finally the wind came up and that helped but I ran out of gas. Should be able to finish tomorrow as forecast only 72 for tomorrow. 51 overnight so I'll probably get up early and have at it. Quiet time; I'll be back there with the critters and God. Love that. This morning when I went back a deer laid by the garden. I waited for her to get up but she was in no hurry. I sat on the golf cart talking to her. Just waited until she got up and walked away before I went in the garden. Last night we once again were blessed with a fawn in the yard. It is amazing how many we've had this year right at the house. Go out to the barn and there are deer tracks all over the place. Yesterday my wife had to wait going to the barn to let a doe and 2 fawns move along. They were in no hurry. We are blessed!
The Australian National Bird, often mistaken for an Emu. Easy to tell the two apart as the mozzie actually flies. You can supposedly find them on the Gulf Coast as well.
Thx VT. I should never ASSume that all understand our slang. Sorry Dennis. Now, is anyone going to join the Save the Black Fly club ? Something serious: too many whitetails in most areas. Hunting is no longer as common as it was only a decade ago. We see see deer starve in winter here, they are part of the tick vector. Though I don't hunt, there's a need to cull the herd. The kids are all on media getting fat. A good sign of prosperity that former hunters no longer have the need to stock freezers. Apologies for the rant. JMNSHO
Yes it is sad that most areas are actually losing hunters. I think our state has lost at least 1/3 over the last 10 years. Yet, around this area, we certainly have not lost any hunters. A neighbor and I were talking about it and remembering how it used to be. At one time I could walk anywhere within a mile from our house and it would be strange to see another hunter except during rifle season. More showed up then but nothing like it is now. Just on the properties that border ours, there are not less than 24 hunters other than myself.
Got some more hoeing done this morning while it was cooler. Man the weeds really took off in the last 2 weeks with all the rain. Now we might be headed into a dry period. So, I'll probably hoe one more time after I finish what I didn't get done this morning. Then we will be spreading straw on the garden. This does 2 things; keeps the weeds down and holds in moisture. Speaking of moisture, this week I'll also be putting out a water line to the garden so we can irrigate; especially the berries as they need lots of moisture. The rest of the garden is not bad but drying fast. Speaking of berries, they are delicious and we've been picking for a few days. Yummy!
