Hey Maina, you got dumped on. Downeast got a tease of a couple of inches. Had to ask our plow guy NOT to plow since the dirt is soft on the road. He broke a blade once and it digs up the surface when soft. Where the H are you ?
We need input from you. The bears here love the seeds in feeders. Now is when Yogi and cubs come out to pull down the hanging feeders...they are hungry. Should we stop birdfeeding ? Vote.... many times.
Not too much above 32ºF on the mercury at the kitchen window a while ago. Pine and red maple struggling to turn into a decent burn. Gonna be one of those days I guess. Mostly cloudy by the weather guessers crystal ball.
We have a bear that takes mine down at least once a summer. When he does that I will not fill it for a few weeks or a month so he can amble on down the road.
We got a mess! Quess of maybe 8 or 9 inches, I got out to snow blow a little after 7 and it was heavy but the blower did well....Glad I didn't wait any longer though....
Local hunter told me about an "unwelcome mat" for bears. A 4X4 sheet of 3/4" ply with many 1" roofing nails thru it spaced about 2"-3" apart. Put it near trash cans or feeders to just give the bear an "unwelcome" scare. Works....so far. YMMV ( sorry, another TLA ) We don't put our feeders in the summer here; too many raccoons, bears, squirrels, people.
39° out. Burning ash and silver maple. Any time it wants to start warming up a little outside, it can. That'd be great, mmmkay?
This is Jill, we don't I just used that term. We have never seen the bear in daylight. Been tree by the dog once at 11PM .
Boys have a what? Girls have a $#@& ? Yooper we are impressed with your knowledge of biology. Who knew which is what ? Hey, anyone who asks a Black Bear to raise their ( get it "their" ) hindquarters for a gender exam will win.
43 outside 76 in the room adjacent to the stove room. Going to vent a little. women. Wife and I had a little spat before supper. She was complaining that she was cold, STT was down to 250* and the fire was out. "Fire out? A lot of coals in there" "No flames" Loaded up with some Black Locus. Temperature got up to 400*, put the bypass off and throttled down. "Wood isn't burning and the thermometer is reading 300*. STT was at 400* when I looked at it. Being bullheaded I chucked the whole firebox full of black locus and left the door cracked. My intention was to bring in some 3 year old oak after that burnt down or the stove melted down. Which ever came first. I cooled off in the mean time and it started to sink. STT got up to 650* before I backed down. Now what is a wrong with these women? My mom's chair is 3 foot from the stove. She is still cold and covered up like winter. My wife's chair is 6 feet from the stove. She is still cold. I can't stand to even be in the room. Does someone make a chair that you can sit on top of the stove? Maybe they will get warm. Done with rant.
