16 sunny and not a cloud in the sky
Will likely just pull coals ahead and call it good. Supposed to hit 40 today.

It got to only 29° last night. It's already 46° out, headed to 52°. Good sun out today, so I'm sure a lot of snow will melt.

I reloaded about 9 am with a half load of elm, and silver maple. I won't reload until this evening. It'll get too hot inside otherwise.

This week is good for snow melting too.

It wasn't too many years ago, maybe around 8 (?) that on March 20th, the cottage driveway was so bare and dried up that I had a cookout down there! It was during those winters that I had not removed any snow at all from the driveway.

Who knows? Maybe a repeat this year? Doubt it though.

The weather all of this week is looking Soo nice. I'm hoping it will be a early spring and a short mud season. Screenshot_20200301-113116.png

Yes to the short mud season. That's the big problem down here with our clay soil.

Oh we understand that as we are also clay based.

We are a very heavy clay area. We named our farm, Muddy acres.

We have very little frost under our snow so I'm hoping it will help shorten the mud this year.

I took this photo at work at the end of last week.
    KIMG0071.JPG
I hit a snow drift and it slowed me down and made the tires start spinning, as soon as they got to the ground it broke thru the frost ( only about 2inchs of frost) and under that was pure soupy clay mud.

You're due West of my cottage in Tomahawk. It's all sand there. I haven't really spent much time in the NW corner of Wisconsin though.. That's crazy that only 70 miles away it's completely different soil.

We can drive 15 more miles west to Bruce and it's right back to sand, it's crazy how fast it can change.

26 this morning. Pine in the Wood Gun. Suppose to go to low 40s and rain. This week should melt most of our snow away. Three or four days in the 40s.

Secondary roads are starting to get bare, walking is gonna be safer with no slip and slide going on. :handshake:

We're down to just patches of snow; mostly in the woods areas. Still plenty by the house but lots has melted. It's good to see the bare ground again. Still forecasting 40's this week with one day in the 50's. Today originally was forecast to be 50 but now they are saying 45. That also is the present temperature.

It is really good that the weather is warming up and the sunshine has returned. We always seem to have 3 months or more of cloudy weather followed by more cloudy weather. Sun is good and it also helps to dry things up. Methinks everyone will be happy when the mud is done.

Just checked and the frost laws go into effect today. We were betting just a short time ago when they would go into effect. I think they should have been in effect a week ago but I don't set the laws. The roads will suffer and then we have to pay to fix them.
