    I've tried. They don't listen.

Maybe if they learn the hard way a time or two, they'll figure it out.

They also don't listen to the reduced range when towing. That one will come up organically when ev trucks arrive and people start towing like they do with the ICE trucks.

Put cold temps, mountains, and towing together, and what do you get? Mega reduced range.

TFL truck bought a Tesla model x SUV, and towed a trailer not even half the 4500 lb capacity, as well as a 4400 lb trailer behind it and saw that range, in the cold was well under half of what was seen in non towing conditions. Yes, fuel powered vehicles get worse mpg in these situations, but it's easy and quick to refuel. You can even carry extra fuel in jugs/ aux tanks if you want with fuel powered vehicles.

I like EV's. But, with everything, there's pros and cons....

I'm not sure how similar, but forklift batteries lose 30% capacity in freezer applications.

Yeah, sounds pretty similar. Add in another 1/3 less when towing, more or less depending on the amount of weight towed, and that's probably why the tests show about 2/3 less range with EV in those circumstances. Take the ~320 mile range, and take off 2/3 range, and you can't go very far without a recharge, if you can find one in around 100 miles. A quick charger will get you a full battery in 40 minutes or so. The to recharge up to 80% capacity goes pretty quickly, but that last 20% is slow. When you only get so far in a full charge towing, you need a full battery. That makes for a very slow and long trip if you are going further than 100 miles.

If you go by the claimed range for the new ev pickups, then 2/3 of 500 miles is 330 miles. Ok, that will get you a lot more places, but if you're going further than that, it will be painful. That means it would be very tough to do an 800+ mile day, which is pretty easy in a fuel powered vehicle.

Battery tech will need to get better. It's getting there though....

Horkn that is a well thought out and logically reasoned point of view! Please do not share that with ant Tesla fans if they know your location.

It's getting there VERY fast. Right now, lithium, and advanced lead acid batteries are limited in how fast they can charge by the connector from the charger to the port on the car, (or connector of the battery in my world) you can only put so many amps through a connector.

This will all go away with the advancement of wireless charging. We are already beta testing wireless charging in Europe right now. Within a few years, we are going to have the capability to charge our lithium battery technology (nickel manganese cobalt) in 10 minutes.

We have been told that we will also be able to set these inductive pads under the concrete in the major thoroughfares through a warehouse, and they will theoretically be able to run a forklift 24/7 without ever having to stop.

If you apply these advancements to the electric automotive industry, many of your problems will go away.

Easy to load. Easy to drag inside. Don’t miss the old wheelbarrow days. One rounded cartload usually gets us three days and nights of heat. Depends on the outside temps of course.

Son staying for a visit. Put him to work bringing some wood to the porch yesterday. So, overnight, the temperature stayed near the freezing point.

Yeah, last night wasn't too bad. Around freezing. The wind stopped gusting, that helped.

28° now, elm, maple, and ash uglies in the stove now.
