-12 out 71 inside, 62 upstairs so I turned the heat pump on for awhile. Only the third time this season because we haven’t had much real winter. Just reloaded with beech.
13 this morning, 71 inside. Big ole split of oak still churning this morning from LN keeping the blower going. Man its nice having a stove, even nicer when temps are bitter like this. Nice load of oak just went in, house temps on the rise. Hoarders.... enjoy your weekend!! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Relief is on the way Well Seasoned ! Dropped to only 9f overnight. Sitting at 11 now; back to mild temps!
11 here in southern ct. overnight and this morning did some Norway maple. Decent burn from that stuff.
-2°F here at 5:30. 1° out now. 68° inside last night around 9 o’clock. Loaded the stove with oak and a stray piece of white birch. 62° inside this morning. Mixed load into the stove first thing. Far side of the house still a little chilly. Sitting in the low 60s but the near side above the stove is back up to 70° already. 88° and 18% humidity in the stove room downstairs. I should probably get the water pot going on top of the stove.
Was 1.6* outside around 615 this morning. We made it to 2.5* out now but the sun is up over the ridge so I'm sure that will start bringing the outside temp up. Inside was down low enough for the furnace to kick on this morning (probably 64-65ish). Loaded up with apple and elm. Temps starting to come up inside, we're up to 67.1* now. You can always tell when there is a cold snap cause this thread gets very busy
Weird that we got colder than you last night, but supposed to warm nicely today and once again, I'm sitting here and watching the sun come up. It surely is nice seeing that sun again after the cloudy months we have here.
Was 9ºF outside earlier, 13ºF right now, just put a few splits of oak in now that the white pine is burned down. Will actually be trying to squeeze maximum performance out of the stove for a change rather than test the minimum. Back to above freezing temps tomorrow.
-12 here.. my nephew on the mtn closer to Well Seasoned saw -25 below.. his windshield fluid froze I told him to use the good stuff in winter edit for mrfancyplants
It's already 27° out, windy and cloudy though so it doesn't feel like that. It also doesn't feel like -10 or whatever it got down to the other day, so that's good. I've got a heck of a bed of coals in my quadrafire. Trying to burn that down a bit after just emptying the ashes the other day before the cold snap hit. I've got red maple, elm and others sticks in the stove now to hopefully burn the coal bed down a little after burning apple, ironwood, locust, oak, and hickory the last couple days.
My company car always got the oil changed at Valvoline instant locations. They used garbage washer fluid that would always freeze in the winter.
We had around -30 last year here in Ozaukee county in that polar vortex. My work, as well as many others had to close because of increased issues with electric power at that low of temperatures. So while we had power, we all got sent home as our presses were shut off and computers/ servers were shut off to conserve energy.
