Woke up after a particularly windy and rainy night. 50* and the yard and driveway are full of small limbs and branches. Started a fire of Fir and soft Maple early this morn and now at almost noon the house is roasting. No more wood if I want to sleep tonight!
Looks like 16 out there this morning. Overnight burn was Beech, Ash, and a little Rice Coal sprinkled in there as well. I’ll put in some White Pine when it kicks on this morning.
27 and 79 this morning. Happy Groundhog Day! We always get 6 more weeks of winter. Pretty mild one lately though!
Woke up to 42f this morning. It is supposed to hit 47f this afternoon...then drop to 4f by Wednesday morning.
33 this am, 47 later. supposed to hit the 50’s the next few days. We’ll see if the wife slows down on the stove. More locust in now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It’s oddly warm here at 9,000 feet. It’s almost 40 degrees at 8:30 am. I’m burning some silver maple and enjoying the view off the deck with a cup of coffee. I’m enjoying it while it lasts. Supposed to get snow and single digits tonight through Tuesday
35f here right now! Should get the driveway cleared of the built up snow pack....or as any given Yooper might say...Chip away at that built up "snowpank" I've been driving over.
30 Last night I packed in a big load so I could sleep in and reload early afternoon. Will likely rake coals ahead and add a little to hold till 8 tonight.
It's already 47° out. I'll let the stove go out this afternoon. I'll restart it this evening. I'm sure there will be enough coals in the stove for an easy relight. It's supposed to be in the upper 30's tonight for a low. I also need to empty ashes from the stove, so I'll do that after the Super Bowl when we get home.
