Sounds like he's talking about a core block heater for a diesel engine. My Ford has one that I'll plug in to keep the block warm if it gets really cold. My truck always starts on the first crank, but I can definitely see a difference in ease using the block heater.
Truck definitely starts better with the block heater plugged in. But it will start in the cold without it every time.
12 here now, we took my MIL out to eat for Christmas this afternoon, so the last wood was loaded at 1300 hrs, just got home to coals and firing her up with Sugar Maple.
0° at the moment with a windchill around -10 heading down to -4°F with light snow. Burning locust, house 77°F
How much on the ground there. I know you got hammered a couple weeks ago, then the warm air moved in, and im guessing another 6"+ over the past 48 hrs?
Parts of the yard still had 5" of hard Icy snow from the rain, we picked up another 5" of powder that has packed down some where the sun hits it. Everything is white. And will stay white for the lord's day.
You could send some of your ice to me I will happily take it. Getting a little warm down here today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ouch! 103 is way too hot! 28F here & clear, really nice night, this is my kinda weather. Sun was out most of the day too which is rare here. Catalpa & Oak in the boiler.
17f right now, night before was 6f. Burning my set aside red oak and Ash. Silver Maple during the day. Loading the stove 4 times a day now to keep the house temp up. An almost full load in the morning of silver maple, a half stove load at 3 pm when I wake up ( I work 3rd shift), 3/4 stove load at 6 or 7 before my Naptime, and a full load of red oak, locust or ash when I leave for work at 10:30. I hope I have enough wood to last this year....I got behind on my 3 year plan.
20’s at night, and 30’s during day. 3yr red oak uglies during the day since Im working from home this week. 3yr red oak and some 2yr red maple perfect splits at night. woke up to a 70* house and enough coals for a quick restart.
3 feels like -2, 74 inside on coals. Less wind than yesterday and warming up to about 30 today then a short warm spell that should melt some ice.
-7 F here this morning. A mix of Beech, Ash, and a random piece of some kind of Birch keeping things warm.
