18* this morning.........Put in some nice big oak splits LN which left a great bed of coals this AM, blower going strong and 71* inside. Some maple and cherry to keep her chugging and a nice load of Oak for the wife before off to work.
Sounds like your door gasket isn't sealing & not regulating combustion air. Look for sections that are black & hard/flattened out. You can usually pull it out and just twist it around to expand it then put back in and it should work better, maybe just for a while. Think about at least having a replacement on hand.
Haven't had a problem with it, I don't think. Early morning few or frost I guess, and in the summer it is high. That's why our HI is so high. I learned to cut and split at night when we can to beat some of the heat...lol
I had already replaced it. Thinking I waited too long to turn it down. I will be experimenting today. I read several posts of people seeing 700-750 for a bit in their stoves but it was too hot for me liking, especially when I'm trying to go to bed and its my first year.
Then I must be reading it wrong. I read it saying the outdoor temp was 101˚ but the outdoor humidity was only 45%, lower than the indoor humidity...? Georgia is still in the same place it used to be?
Big change here, when I went to bed it was 33º at 10pm and 17º when we got up, 0530. It just hit 20º and I put two more oak splits on. I got a good 7 hr slow burn last night, woke to about 68º inside. This oak I'm burning now is from our 2015 Nor-Easter, "bomb cyclone" we had here. I got 12+ cord from that one. Gave about 12 cord of Maple away to folks in need also.
I see you were close to us in temps Chuck! I figured it to be warmer but the wind "howled" at 25mph+ all night from the North.
Howled here to buddy, my house faces North North/West and sounded like someone was kicking the front door in.....
Was cold this morning but no longer. Up to 30 now and the sun is shinning brightly. This surprises me that we've seen a good amount of sun for a few days. Not normal here at this time of year but we love it.
It didn't quite make it to 0*F this AM it was 1* up to 24*now will load the OWB with a mix of Hardwood later this afternoon.
Got to -2 or 3 last night. Woke to 9. Put a few splits of Oak and Beech in the stove and now the house is 72. I even had an extra .
Was 14 at the house this morning. Put a load of ash and black locust in the stove. Took the MIL 3 trys to get my truck started. Forgot to plug it in last night. Also forgot to tell her if she waits an extra 20 seconds after the wait to start light goes out it will go first try even unplugged at these temps.
