I burned tops and uglies from the trees I had to cut late last winter, so was able to postpone hitting my stacks until right around Christmas. Have burned a bit this week, but still have almost 2 face cords left in my first stack (1st cord). If we have an early Spring, I may get away with burning about two cords from my stacks. I still have a face cord of uglies stacked for the shoulder season in the Spring.
20º this morning but the winds were brutal, had to blow the drive to get the wife out. 2ft drifts but the new snowblower handled it well. Down to 10º outside right now, got the Buck filled with red oak, ash and sugar maple. Expecting -5º with wind chills of -20º, nice big round of locust ready for tonight.
7º on the back porch this morning. Pine burning in boiler. I ran out of hardwood in the basement yesterday and was to tired and lazy to bring more in last night. So I packed the boiler full of large pine splits and hoped for the best. Then it got cold. LOL. Needless to say she was stone cold empty this morning and the big tank was cold as well. Oil boiler running. Oh well, it needed some exercise anyway. It hasn't run in a long while. I may actually buy some kerosene while the prices are down and add to the tank. I can't remember when I bought any last. Been a long time.
-2 here this morning and I just reloaded with a variety of stuff but mostly oak . sitting around 70 in the house.
-6 now. Had a small cardboard box in the furnace room from something one of the girls Amazoned. Put my coal in that, swept the floor and filled the box. Lots off odds and uglies to burn off. Kind of a junk load this morning. Will be home all day so I may burn off a few junk loads.
I hear that JustWood. I will be in and out all day. So I am going to burn Pine all day. The boiler goes through it quick, but it likes the taste.
0 degrees, now, it has dropped a degree. Last night I stuffed ash, red oak and hedge in the owb, currently,70 degrees in every room of the house.
Cold one for sure today, but pretty warm by the stove. Have my nieces wedding to go to this afternoon/evening.
-2º Just filled the box with sugar maple and cherry and ash. Heading out to a men's church breakfast.
A nice balmy 8F here right now. 72F inside when I got up an hour ago. I'm not going anywhere today either so I'll just burn some maple and walnut.
Foggy 23f lodge pole with some alder trim for kick start 70f by stove. Feet up having morning beverage of choice.
We had a temp of 4 this morning, the house was a bit cooler this morning, 66. We have a load of Sugar Maple and some Yellow Birch going this morning.
1 above now. 2nd partial reload with a buncha mishmosh dohnuts . Furnace takes 29" max at the door. Got some 33"ish stuff that I'm putting in kattycorner to save me from whackin and restackin'!
6 degrees and I am burning a mix if Hickory, Ash and some Elm that snuck into the pile. I don't burn the good stuff till it's cold out. Just kidding, it's cold out.
17F out with a full load of red oak and sass. The ol volcano is cruising along at 500. It's about 140deg in the basement and 68 up here . I'm gonna be on the roof later installing the final parts of my pellet chimney, so the basement will be my happy place this evening .
