About 20 years yrs. ago we were crossing Rust Pond in Wolfboro with 13 sleds. Half of them were our (and friends) kids riding with us, about 300 feet from shore we ran out of ice. All you could do was nail it, all the kids did just that that. I don't want to do that again.
26 and 76, just reloaded with mixed hardwood. Warmer temperatures and rain should be here by days end. Around 2” predicted between tonight and tomorrow. Then snow Tuesday. We’ll enjoy the warmth while we have it
23 Prolly rake the coals ahead and call it good. Supposed to hit 40 today and what’s left in boiler will prolly make the day.
For sure I know what happens with the ice in Superior. That is not for me!!!! Just reading about your experience gave me the willies.
Really warm overnight. Again we've lost all of our snow which is fine with me. Supposed to stay relatively warm for a while again with a couple period of some brief colder but nothing serious. Maybe we'll have a green Christmas. Hum... Green Christmas; full graveyard by spring.
Carbide studs in the track, and carbide in ski runners. Yes, many sleds do 100 mph. Mine does over 120 mph. It's not even modded much. Riding on the lake is pretty safe with a snowmobile. Even if you got open water, just aim toward good ice or land and gun it. They skip water VERY well. You can go miles waterskipping. I've gone a good ways, but not anything crazy ( by my standards )
It's gonna be -13 here in Manitoba tomorrow night. Burning poplar in the daytime. Tamarack and ash overnight.
Please keep it up there! It is 5:00 am and the fire is out but still 80 degrees in here. Not sure what it is outdoors but probably around 32.
We’re at 44 and 79 on coals and it’s raining hard. We’ve gotten 2” or so overnight and the sun is just coming up so I can’t see if we have any flooding. I won’t be burning too much with a high of 50 today but we’ll keep the damp chill out. Back to reality tomorrow night.
Just over 30 here this morning. I’ll burn up some Pine in this warmer temperature. Should get to 40 today and rain most of the day. Joy.
15f here. Not supposed to get too warm today and tomorrow will be colder....single digits. Probably 3" of fresh stuff as far as I can tell.
-2 F now, heading for -16 F tonight. Time to reload the wood box with red oak and poplar mix. The poplar seems to burn faster than the jack pine I was burning in early November.
Not too bad today. 42 in the morning going to 50 or so. Currently burning flowering (Bradford) pear. That stuff is almost as hard as oak. Grows extremely fast. In the process of getting rid of them so I've been cutting 4-5 down at a time. Nice firewood.
Welcome to the club William W Western 30* out 68* in when I got up around 5 this morning. Supposed to get up to lower 40s with rain and fog all day. Not a great day for the last day of rifle season
Yes welcome to the club William W Western. -7c/19f here this morning under a low overcast. We were away yesterday so no fire yet. I have to go to work for a few hours but when I get back Ill fire it up.
28 degrees outside. Fresh dusting of snow on the rocks outside the house. 76 inside. Douglas Fir crankin in the Jotul.
Somewhere around the freezing mark this morning. In was 68......right where I set the stat. Got a small fire going earlier to get the chill out with some small Ash limbs and a bit of Oak. Still have more of the limbs to burn up. Tonight should be in the mid-teens, and mid-20s tomorrow. 70 in right now.
