We're looking at upper 30s to low 40s overnight. It's been drizzling pretty much all day. Mud everywhere yuck! Just put in a few pieces of ash to keep the house temp good without cooking us out I hope. We'll see what the morning temps are.
Still warm here, 44F, but dropping. They say just a bit of snow overnight but cold & windy. High temp will be at midnight, then two cold days before it warms back up into the 30's. Catalpa & Oak in the boiler.
I think we cleared snow around 4 hours ago. It is still snowing with an additional 5" since cleaning up at around 5:30...? Looks like my morning trip is going to be cancelled. The street is not plowed as of yet and I doubt it'll be before tomorrow afternoon. 14f now.
We hit a high of 52 at 2 am, it’s 50 now and 75 inside. Back to freezing tonight. I put a few splits in last night, just enough for a few coals this morning. Time to repeat that process
Welcome to the forum Sammy! Been through your area a few times but never noticed many big wood piles. lol
Got the driveway and walk shoveled already. The snow stopped last night shortly after crawling into the sack, Street still isn't plowed. 3f now feeling like -12f. And its going to get colder.
And then there are some areas like ours. I think our season total so far is between 7" and 8"; current snow depth is 0".
Didnt refill the stove this morning. 48* out 72* inside. Nothing but rain and lots of mud I think it's time for the ground to freeze.
27f & about 2" of snow overnight. Time to clean off some cars. It'll be a drippy day in the shop. Oak going in the boiler.
Didn't light the stove this morning, temps upper 40's which is insanely warm for this time of year. Cold front sweeping in through today.
Thank you, I’m glad I found this forum. I’ve just started with firewood and I’m enjoying all the information on here. I helped with the splitting and stacking as a kid (home and shop heat) and dreaded the days we did it. Now that I’m older, I absolutely love it. I guess we actually do get wiser with age.
Pine in the Wood Gun, which is not having to run much. Nice temperatures. Looks like we must of already hit the high for today. ? Currently at 40 F. (I thought we were going to get to 45-47, according to the weather guessers recently.) Looks like from here on out it’s going to be dropping.
16 OAT this morning. Furnace kicked on sometime before I woke up with a load of Poplar for the overnight fire. Was 75 on the t-stat as I headed to bed. 67 this morning IAT. 74 on the t-stat at the moment, with another Poplar load about 10am. Put another split on the "coals" and that's almost gone, but the stove is still kickin' enough for a while to keep temps up. Should hit about 20 today and get down to 9 tonight. Might get into some Beech for tonight's fire, since the Poplar's almost gone.
I can understand why you love it now and glad you do. Here is some more information on wood burning that you might enjoy: Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage
