Here is something interesting, We have had a bunch of Bluebirds, not Blue Jays, here for the last week or so. I thought for sure they would have moved on, southbound, as we had single digits and teens. I just looked out to the garden, and there 8 of them out there now in the cold 34* rain. I know they mostly eat bugs, they have to be seed eating now.

John, I've noticed that same thing happening in the past. So far not this year though. Makes one wonder for sure what they eat now and how they stay warm. I know the feathers are great insulators but it seems those birds that normally go south might not be able to stand the cold as well.

It was thick fog this morning. It has pretty much lifted now but even though the temperature is up, that dampness makes it feel a bit uncomfortable.

It's been pretty mild since we had the last cold snap. Yes, it's still below normal temps, but it is way easier dealing with 30-40° than teens to twenties.

Norway maple in the stove last night got the house to 70° in the back hall. I put in silver maple this am. Mid 30's this am.

Thursday it's supposed to rain, but get up to 50°
It will be 40's to upper 30's most of the week.

We have a cold front moving through the next couple days so I will finally get to run the stove again. Its been too warm here to burn with highs in the 70s for almost a month. Finally back at it.

It has been mild for us here also. The mild temps should continue at least 5 more days. unless...….

Been in the 60's and 70's during the day for most of Nov. Temps are dropping as we speak though! PG&E is turning our power off due to "extreme fire danger". Tomorrows forecast is high of 52 low of 36 and 50% humidity.:headbang:

Low 30’s and upper 20’s here at night in NH for the next week. Forty’s during the day but cloudy and rainy days lately have made it feel a little cooler. Still burning pine.

Had rain last night which is continuing today. Low of 37 which isn't too cold but I started a fire anyway. Woke up and it was 73 in the house. 20191119_202507.jpg

Was gone today but got home just before dark. Wow! Most of the snow melted today. What is left should be gone tomorrow as they are predicting we might hit 50 degrees tomorrow! I like it.

We had 50° sunny and no wind today. It was glorious. I got out of work a bit early and marked the lot markers on the wood lot.

Let the stove simmer on am coals and didn't reload this am. I had enough coals and reloaded about 2 hrs ago it's 43° now.

69° in the house, burning Norway maple.

When its mild out I like to cruise on coals as well. It helps keep the heat down and sometimes there's no hurry to get the stove top temps up.

We are starting to cool off to somewhat normal temps now. -9c/16f with a full load of doug fir and lodgepole pine. I didn't feel like pulling out my best wood tonight. Upstairs from the stove and in the middle of the house its 23c/73f which is as warm as we like it. In the rec/stove room the temps feel quite a bit higher. The stars sure are bright tonight!
