32f right now and elm burning in the stove. Gonna head up to the new woods I was asked to clear and grab a truck load of maple today.
28° here but the sun's coming out. Splurging with dry oak branches in the stove, that I picked up yesterday. We had Saturday night trick or treating, got more kids than we've had in years.
Same here, we got 1 kid. 28F here as well, first hard frost of the year at my house. We had a party by the firepit last night, so everyone was in and out of the house all night. I just woke up to 56F in the house. Some maple bringing things back to a better temp.
Yes it is. It is also funny how the lakes affects different areas. One that surprises many is Manistique, which is in the UP, which one always thinks of colder. However, Manistique tends to have sort of a prolonged fall, simply because it is at the top of Lake MI and lots of south and SW wind brings warmer winds as the lake has not yet cooled a lot. The Lower Peninsula is the part that perhaps benefits most from the lakes but as you get to the northern part, the weather changes drastically. In the UP, one really notices a huge difference between the east and west. The air just seems to change a lot in the western part (west of Escanaba) as there is not so much lake effect except near Lake Superior where it is almost always cold, even in summertime. Most areas around Lake Superior also gets plenty of snowfall with the Keweenau peninsula being one of the heaviest snow areas (many areas around 300" normal every winter).
Rumor has it you were giving out home made wood cookies as treats! Just a rumor though! Heck if you were i wouldve come up for a treat or five!
Still 32 here, and a small fire earlier this morning. More snow overnight and it's still coming down, but just a light dusting at the moment.
Big rain the other day stopped me today and was gonna finish up in the yard but it got to freeze/rain and i called it quits. 36f and elm in the box.
Mid 40's here now & 48 with rain for tomorrow. Then back to 30's with rain snow mixed all the way through next weekend. I really need the ground to freeze or dry up sheesh! Catalpa in the boiler.
38 out just put some ash in for the night. Had loaded ash about 2/3 of the box this morning and then we had bright sun, house was 78.
37 degrees outside here tonight at 9k feet. 74 in the house. Burning silver maple in the Jotul. Better ease off, or It'll be too hot to sleep Glad the Patriots finally lost. I'll admit it. I'm a jealous Broncos fan.
30s Burning oak slabs under wet Basswood still in the no spark zone with OWB . Leaves everywhere ya about 7-12inches deep . Ya 400 Heatmor in middle of oak Forest isn't the best for fall burning if dry out.. holding for rain or snow for a serious fire. Just a heads up Basswood is only good for no Sparks . Otherwise it's just a Ash maker. Heatmor 400 a different animal with 2- 150 cfm draft fans .. Dragons ( fans ) get a bit nuts. It can make V flame cone at top of a 8 ft extension. Cap can only be all stainless nothing else holds up to a mega burn .. But BTUs to the houses is down right amazing . Yes I choke it all down all depending on wood moisture content. At below 0f I put metal pans over fans even . To keep dragons in check yep it's all about efficiency. And gasification in the 54x32x28 inch firebox is a site to see . Only get to see it for secs because door needs to be closed. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
